Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married
Most of us spend years in preparing ourselves to become employable. Yet we don't spend much time thinking on how to prepare ourselves for marriage. So, is it any wonder that difficulty, misunderstanding, and divorces have ruined lives and again?
Marriage counselor, Gary Chapman, writes a book called, "Things I wish I'd Known Before We Got Married". This book alone could have saved broken marriages worldwide, only if people had known the book content on time before tying the knot.
Don't worry, this is a small book. Besides, you can skim through the pages, then decide where you want to zero in on. Be warned, it's easy to read and addictive. You'll reach the end of the book without your realization.
Once you've read the book, you'd come to the point where you'll say/agree that, yes the devil does lie in the detail. And that we overlooked the everyday reality. The author pointed out for us that we don't mean the same thing when we say the same thing. This, in my estimate, is true.
Most of us, in our naivety, mistakenly believe that the feeling of love and attraction is all what makes a successful marriage. This is a recipe for disaster. So what this book does is, it provides us the realistic framework for maintaining a fulfilling marriage, by means of keeping us in perspective about the inevitableness of conflict.
This book can be given as a gift – the recipient will appreciate it more than any silver or gold.
