Guy's Guide To Tin Foils Dinners - Meat & Veggie Dinner

Preparing a tin foil dinner is simple, delicious and fun. Whether you are venturing out in the great outdoors or staying at home. Here are a few tips and a simple recipe for making tasty tin foil dinners you'll love.

USEFUL TIPS:

  1. Use heavy duty foil to avoid ripping.
  2. Place the food on the shinny side of the tin foil to help food cook faster and more evenly.
  3. Use cooking spray on the foil before adding your ingredients.
  4. Cut up your meat/chicken and veggies into small bite-size pieces to expedite the cooking process.
5.Place meat/chicken on the bottom. Softer veggie like bell peppers and onions should be place in the middle of the meal (not near the tin foil) to prevent burning.
  5. Add more seasoning than normal. Mix in seasoning into your meat/chicken and you vegetables. You can also add in some slices of butter, or if you wanna go a healthier route drizzle olive oil on the top of your meat/chicken and vegetables for additional flavor and moisture.
  6. Double wrap your dinner, especially if your food is heavy, or if you plan to eat it directly from the pack.
  7. If you're cooking it at home, you can throw your dinner in the oven or an a grill. If you're outdoors, let's camping, make sure to cook in the coals and not the flames to avoid burning your dinner. The bed of coals needs to be big enough so all the dinners can be cooked at the same time. You can also put some coals on the top to help it cook.

HOW TO WRAP & SEAL YOUR DINNER

  1. Tear off a sheet of foil large enough, At least 12 inches long, to cover & seal your dinner.
  2. Place the food in the middle of the foil.
  3. Bring the long sides together in the center and tightly fold them together towards the food. Leave 1-2 inches between the food and the end of the foil.
  4. Tightly roll up the shorter sides, again leaving an inch or so of space between the of the fold and the food.

Ingredients: (The following recipe makes 4 servings.)
-1 lb lean ground beef -2 large potatoes, diced
-2 sweet potatoes, diced -2 medium-sized carrots
-1 large onion, chopped -1 clove garlic, minced
-2 large zucchinis, diced -salt and pepper to taste
-4 lemons (1 per serving) -heavy duty tin foil
You can also use any type of sauce that you like. For example: steak sauce, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, etc.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix salt and pepper into raw meat. Divide meat into fourths and put each portion on flat sheet of foil & pile desired amount of vegetables on each meal.
  2. Season vegetable with salt and pepper. (I personally also use lemon, basil, oregano and rosemary essential oils to season my meals.)
  3. Wrap each meal in tin foil, making sure it is sealed.
  4. Place dinners close to or directly on coals for 40-60 minutes or cook in oven at 350 degrees for approximately 30-40 minutes.

I do this all the time on the grill. I personally would not recommend olive oil, as cooking with it at higher temperatures is not good. Coconut oil is great to cook or fry in though!

But, it is cooked in aluminum, which is absorbed into our systems and can contribute to Alzheimer's...
