Low content payouts are awesome, right?

If you like this post don't UpVote - Just comment. Then UpVote people's comments and share the $teem Dollar$

Disclaimer:
*If you want me to remove the #introduceyourself I will, but I feel it applies to this topic.

This is low content I admit, but I find it disheartening when I see single paragraph posts making 1000's of Steem dollars. I would much rather upvote the content our famous community members bring to the community rather than them just saying they are here. I hear echoes of the #introduceyourself tag having this problem here and there. I am all for having amazing introductions earning 1000's of SD, but simple one-paragraphers kinda erks me.

Easy to Criticize. What are my Solutions?

One. When bringing members into someone, encourage them to do their introduction along with an article or examples or their work. (Not just links to their websites where they can further profit away from enriching Steemit content.)

Two. Maybe just comment if there is little content, welcoming them instead of upvoting. "Great to have you hear, can't wait to see the content you bring!"

I feel like Two goes against the early voting rewards gained by upvoting famous people and most likely it won't happen. I propose a Steemiquette and we can try it right now:

If you like this post don't UpVote - Just comment. Then UpVote people's comments and share the $teem DollarS

That's right my new Steemiquette rule: Upvote people's content not just the person. If you just like the person that gave an #introduceyourself with little to no content show your appreciation a comment, Upvote commenters that give that person guidance of what we are all about!

I gave you an upvote because I like your approach:

"Upvote people's content not just the person. If you just like the person that gave an #introduceyourself with little to no content show your appreciation a comment, Upvote commenters that give that person guidance of what we are all about!"

Not everyone is going to be able to be successful by contributing original content. Sometimes it is the person commenting that contributes most to the post.

You have a good point. It helps when you are famous already. "Hi, my name is Famous Person, thank you for the $20,000 in steem."

It's true in some case but there is also the " Hey, my name Is Butt Hurt, thank you for the 0.05$ in steem" all kind of people here

Got a bite. Kidding. I am hoping comments and make a post trending and it isn't just base on the SD of a post.

Agreed. I'm amazed at some of the posts that have generated $$$$ with very little content.

If there's anything in life that pisses me off, it would be #introduceyourself
If you'r a girl, simply post your sexy photos mixed with a couple of paragraphs, and with a blink of an eye, you have thousands of dollars

I wrote a blog about this yesterday: https://steemit.com/steemit/@daut44/steemit-needs-to-change-its-reward-system-to-better-incentivize-intelligent-discourse-in-blogs

Essentially, just as you state, I believe the comment section of posts should be full of intelligent discourse and a disproportionate portion of rewards go to low content blog posts. The comments should be the lifeblood of the site, not empty praise. And the only way to cultivate that atmosphere is to reduce the opportunity cost of writing insightful comments in blogs that arent your own. Sure some people will do it for the pursuit of truth, but most need incentive.

My thoughts on this post :D

Why not do it all: upvote the post, add comments, upvote the comments already there -- all as seems good to you -- that is do all or any part of what can be done.

I'm against arbitrary restrictions on principle, and your proposal seems arbitrary to me, but I am willing to be educated, so please teach me why it is not.

I still feel strongly that introduction post should have some awesome bit of content added to them, though my thoughts on the matter have slightly shifted. If you are a famous person, for example, I now see the benefit bring in your crowd base. Hopefully, their followers will bring in ten fold the capital that their post earns, so they are bringing a lot to the community. That being said my issue isn't much of an issue anymore. I do enjoy content filled intros more than single paragraphs, but I now see the value in certain ones. Even if I don't value what some people have to say, I can still value their awesome efforts in growing our community.

One of the reasons that I have not done an introduction is because I don't have any awesome content to include, and one of the folk that got me here said that in terms of articles, posts, whatever, long is better than short while I don't have anything long to say.

My only advice on that would be to start with a picture and a steemit sign showing your support. Talk about the feelings Steemit give you. Authentic and genuine posts can go a long way. Writing about what you know is always a good start, and no one know you better than you.
