Stumbled on this guide on Reddit. Not bad if you are trying to work out with no or minimal equipment. I have a couple additions below.
1. 8-Count Body Builder
I love this one and my fellow less-motivated Marines hated me when I recommended this one for PT (physical training). This one targets multiple muscle groups. Here are the instructions:
Eight-Count Bodybuilders
Eight-count bodybuilders begin from a standing position. The first count involves dropping into a squat position, with both your hands and feet touching the floor. For the second count, jump slightly and thrust your feet back so that you are in a plank position. The third and fourth counts involve a pushup; lower your body on count three and raise it back to the plank position on count four. Counts five and six are also related, with count five involving kicking your legs apart so that your feet are spread and count six recovering from this back to the plank position. The seventh count returns you to the squat position with your hands and feet on the floor, after which you jump up for the eighth count and return to your original standing position.
And a video demonstration:
2. Burpees
This one is a real @$$ kicker. I do mine a little different insomuch that I drop to the deck most of the way rather than lower myself (basically combine steps 3-4 into one fluid motion). I believe that causes stablizer muscles to work harder. I would not advise that for beginners.
Here are the instructions:
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, weight in your heels, and your arms at your sides.
- Push your hips back, bend your knees, and lower your body into a squat.
- Place your hands on the floor directly in front of, and just inside, your feet. Shift your weight onto them.
4.Jump your feet back to softly land on the balls of your feet in a plank position. Your body should form a straight line from your head to heels. Be careful not to let your back sag or you butt stick up in the air, as both can keep you from effectively working your core. - Jump your feet back so that they land just outside of your hands.
- Reach your arms over head and explosively jump up into the air.
- Land and immediately lower back into a squat for your next rep.
