Mmm... Do you love frothy, luscious, chocolate-y, whip-cream topped...
Wait a minute...
I'm getting ahead of myself!
Have you ever read what's in these things? I did and it made me really disgusted that they serve us this crap. So, I made a healthier version. OK, I'll admit mine may not look as fancy without the whipped cream and sparkling unicorn dust but I promise it tastes great and is indisputably healthier for you 😍
I am going to just leave some nutritional stats here for you to either check out or ignore. Don't feel bad... I can tell you the end of the story without you having to read it- your favourite coffee chains are serving you boatloads of sugar in your drink! Luckily, I am here to help and give you an alternative solution :) You are welcome <3
You can probably just put that "Iced Capp" you just got from Timmies (Canadians) I know you're out there partying like it's nobody's business for the 150th birthday of our beloved country. But slow down a minute and think about what you're about to put into your body.
The following nutritional information was collected from the Tim Hortons website, check it out:

If you're a big fan of the famous frothy drink like I used to be, try this little number out to give you the pep in your step without the unnecessary overload of wait for it... processed sugar, artificial sweeteners and dairy!
This recipe is a great alternative (and easy to make!) You get to enjoy the taste without the serious crash a few hours later, which is probably my favourite part! I lied. My favourite part is the taste :)
One thing I want to note is that normally, I wouldn't recommend consumption of coffee to women (based off of a hormone balancing standpoint) however, I've included it as an option below and would suggest looking for some organic, fair trade coffee and use it sparingly, as a treat if you're experiencing any hormonal disarray!
Alternatively, chai tea works like a dream in this recipe, so try that out as well! Here's how to make it!
What to use :
5-10 dates
2 tbsp raw carob or cacao powder
Water
Ice
Optional Add-ins:
Coffee
Chai Tea
Vanilla
Carob
Coconut Shreds
Coconut Oil
Honey or Agave/Coconut Syrup (for vegans)
Coconut Milk
Banana (1/2)
What to do:
Put your (pitted) dates in a blender (preferably a high speed one- if you don't have a professional blender, never fear! Simply soak your pitted dates for a few hours to soften them up!) I buy my dates pitted but a lot of times, it's cheaper to buy them whole and pit them yourself- the choice is yours, just don't put the pits in the blender! :)
Add just enough water to cover the dates in the blender (If you've soaked the dates, you don't need to do this!) If you're aiming to get that same flavour you usually do at the coffee shop- add in your favourite tea! I like using Chai Tea because it's a sultry blend that adds to the drink. You can add coffee if you want at this point but I strongly recommend purchasing well sourced, organic beans. See note in intro
Add your preferred flavours! I use variations of cocoa, carob, vanilla, coconut, cinnamon, coconut oil and coconut nectar. If you want your drink to be more creamy, you can add 1/2 of a banana and 1 cup of coconut milk.
Blend everything together until smooth.
Once you've blended everything together and it's smooth, add an equal amount of ice (check your measurements on the blender.)
Blend everything together again (if you don't have a professional blender, don't put all of the ice in at once- take it in strides depending on what your blender can manage!)
You're done! Enjoy outside under the warm sunshine :)
Got to try... :)
Happy to hear! :) Let me know how you like it when you do! Have a great weekend!

This looks delicious and healthy! Thank you for sharing, I'll give it try.
Thanks so much :) I try to take the foods/drinks that I used to love the most before I changed my diet and make it healthier using my nutritional studies as a base and my body as the ultimate judge... Food is my passion, I can't live without it ;) Let me know how you like it once you give it a go!
