If you're new to Steemit (or not so new) and want to know how to grow by having more followers, more Steem power, a higher reputation rating, and higher curation and blog payments, then this blog post is for you.
After being here for nearly two months, I have done A LOT of research by doing keyword Google searches, reading blogs, studying how-to blog posts and other Steemit-related posts. I have done a bit of experimenting and participating in various Steemit groups and I have been VERY busy on the site.
Here's What It Takes to Win on Steemit (in no certain order)
Do a introduction/verification post. This should be your first post on Steemit. In it, you should hold up a sign with your name and start date here on the site. Or, you can do a video. For the best results, make this post big on who you are and what you like to do. Includes plenty of pics of your family, your pet, you at work, you and your hobby, whatever. Showcase your talents! Whatever makes you special, show it in your intro post.
Follow New Accounts.
Go to the new tab at the top of the site and click introduceyourself from the Tags and Topics list to the right. Then go through and click on other newbie's intro posts, follow them, upvote the post, find something interesting to comment on in the post and make a comment. IMPORTANT: Let them know that you followed them in the comment. More than likely they will follow you back. Don't ask for a follow back, just let them know that you followed them, and don't worry about whether they follow you back. Do this with the introducemyself tag as well.Follow Established Accounts. Go through the hot and trending tabs and repeat the steps for #2.
Sign up for SteemVoter. What is SteemVoter? It is a site where you can set up some accounts to automatically upvote. Here is a very helpful link about it by @valhalla-hash: SteemVoter - Build Your Vote Power - Step-by-Step
Upvote Posts. For the best strategy for upvoting, read and understand this by @rickyjrx55: Steemit 101 - Upvoting
Comment on Posts. This is a biggie! Commenting on others' posts gets your name out there and is a great way to engage with the community. It is a good idea to get into conversation threads. Just be yourself and leave RELEVANT comments that add to the conversation or otherwise show that you have actually read the post. This is a great way to become assimilated into the community AND you will be paid for some of your comments because people upvotes comments that they find interesting. UPVOTES ON YOUR COMMENTS are part of your curation pay, so comment often.
Reply to Comments. This may be one of the most overlooked ways to increase one's following and curation rewards. Be sure to reply to comments left by others on your blog posts. This is all part of engaging with the community and is important to your future on Steemit.
Create Interesting Blog Posts and Post OFTEN. If you want to be a Steemit heavyweight, you need to be a consistent blogger. Find your niche or niches and post EVERYDAY. Post between 1 and 10 posts a day, every day. Make your posts interesting! Blog about what you know about, whether that's sports, dancing, music, gardening, cryptocurrency, tech, nature, baskeweaving, or whatever. Blog about what you know about. Go through the categories and get ideas from what others are doing. TIP: Video blogs (or Vlogs) do exceptionally well. So, get out your phone and selfie stick or get on your webcam and show us what you got!
Enter Contests on the Site. There are several opportunities to win Steem from winning contests on Steemit AND again, this is a way to be noticed. Just do a Google search on "Steemit contest" and it should pull up a host of information about this. One of my favorites is Open Mic.
BUY STEEM. It's simple. The more Steem Power (SP) you have, the bigger your curation rewards and the more people will follow and upvote you. Invest in the site by purchasing Steem Power. You can get it right on the site. Here's how: How to Buy Steem on Steemit.com - Step-by-Step
So, there it is. Everything you need to make a good start on your journey to Dolphin and Whale status on Steemit! I know, because these are the things that I have done and they work.
Here are my stats after only about 7 weeks on the site.
Your results may be less or more, depending on what you put into it, but whatever your results might be, they won't be anything unless you get out here and do it. Don't be afraid and do not be discouraged if it is slow at first. If you are consistent and persistent, your snowball will grow and when it starts rolling, you'll see that your growth is exponential.
