it is to mostly talk about Steemit. Right you are, sir.As @revisesociology says, the first rule of Steem
This will be a collection of topics that could be padded out into multiple posts I suppose, but due to the general lack of creativity in my writing style, I can easily fit into one....
@curie sponsors @abh12345's Engagement League! 💘
Well how about this then! After running the Leagues for every week bar one so far this year, and last year for 15 weeks or so also, @curie have decided to sponsor the weekly post for the next two months at least 😊
This is clearly awesome news for both myself and the people who are taking part each week, but also gives an indication of @curie's willingness to put their money behind projects that are fueling engagement on the platform. There have been times when I've thought, 'why am I doing this again', as the post generally takes a few hours and (prior to sponsorship by @carlgnash and @paulag) was leaving me out of pocket more often than not. Now though, I can relax with regards to costs, and have plenty of encouragement to to continue.
I have been fully behind @curie's witness since I started voting for witnesses, which can be done here: https://steemit.com/~witnesses
To enter the Leagues, which is free and includes a lifetime membership, go here and leave a comment asking to join:

Thank you very much @curie!
@acidyo's Steemit Fantasy Premier League pays out big! 🏆⚽
Since the beginning of the English Premier League 2017/2018 season which started in August last year, @acidyo has been running a contest in which a group of football-mad Steem account holders have been competing for glory in the Steemit Fantasy Premier League.
The football season finished a week or so ago, and 48 of the 84 entries were issued a prize relating to their position in the league. I finished 21st, which is a little disappointing, but this is easily to live with considering the prize for this position was 35 STEEM!
The winner collected a colossal 1050 STEEM - That is huge and worth over $2300 on the open market!
Thanks to @acidyo for hosting the #sfpl and managing the predictions game each week, which I know from experience takes time and effort to organise. I'm really looking forward to next season, and suggest that if people reading this have any interest in football (or not!), lookout for the post (probably following the World Cup) for next seasons registrations.
Cheers!
I inherited a few MVESTS recently 👕👕👕

By a few, it's actually more like 775,000,000. These VESTS influence how the witness rankings are ordered, and the total proxied to me (mainly due to one account), are the 32nd largest on the Steem blockchain.
Just as @donkeypong has recently stated witness voting decisions and criteria:
https://steemit.com/steem/@donkeypong/clarifying-my-decision-not-to-support-eos-related-posts-and-witnesses-100-of-post-rewards-donated-to-curation-initiatives
And @pharesim prior to that:
https://steemit.com/witness-category/@pharesim/a-fundamental-change-to-my-witness-voting-behavior
The @steemcommunity witness also has a particular criteria when seeking witnesses to support. And, I believe the reason for the votes via proxy are due to this stance:
...We will not be offering Bid-bots or trying to profit from delegation. Instead we will champion growth on Steemit by rewarding those that really engage with the platform and within the communities that are already established, and those seeking growth.
If you have given your votes to me via proxy and don't feel this suits your mindset, feel free to remove it. If you think that this is something you could get behind, @steemcommunity welcomes your vote.
Other news of interest
@ivoted looks interesting and could be worth a lookout if you are seeking to choose witnesses, as you could also be rewarded for doing so.
@steemhunt has taken on around 350,0000 in delegated Steem Power with a view to air-drop HUNT tokens to all Steem accounts (extra for the delegators), and looks like a project to follow.
Hopefully you've read about @steemmonsters - This could also be big for Steem and I'm watching with interest there. I should probably get some cards too.
@pennsif has been running 'A dollar a day' for a little while now and has given over $1000 to charities he has appraised over the past month. I'm sure he would appreciate any further support.
And on a personal note to finish, just 2 more for 10,000 - Thank you to the ones still here!

Have a great day all!
Asher @abh12345
That is fabulous news for your Curation League and all those who are featured!
Nice to see members and people supporting some great efforts and initiatives on the platform!
I am a contributing donor to @pennsif's Dollar A Day initiative and LOVE seeing recipients writing posts about what they have done with our support and donations. I would love to see more members considering becoming involved with it.
Thank you for your continued support of A Dollar A Day - very much appreciated.
Getting the feedback posts from recipients really does add to the joy of running the project.

Hi Dawne
Yes it's super news and I'm really feeling quite proud actually - it's like a pat on the back from someone you respect :)
This is the bonus of donating here isn't it? You can see directly where the $ is going, and they can write about it and you can reward them even more :D
Cheers!
Congratulations on the 200 Steem @abh12345. It's well deserved.
Nice to read a post about some good stuff for a change.
I didn't really understand the bit about the proxied VESTS. But it sounds like it's a good thing! 😂
Are proxies different from delegations?
I'm not sure why but when I try and follow @ivoted it's asking me to log in with a private key. I was able to follow another account without having to do so I didn't follow @ivoted.
It's been good stuff all week from me 😁
A proxy is like a delegating your mvests (a huge number related to your Steem Power) to someone who's witness selections are boosted by the vests you have. So I guess they are a bit like SP delegations, you can grab them back instantly though.
Ha, ha, ha. Clear as mud @abh12345! 😂
But it sounds like it might potentially move you up the witness table and that's a good thing. 😊
Hi @gillianpearce, Maybe it was an API issue at this moment, I swear @ivoted is an account like any other !
Ok. I'll try it again @ivoted. 😁
Congratulations on all fronts Asher, and I see you have now ticked over the magic 10K followers !!
Thank you very much for the mention of the A Dollar A Day project, and for the continued support from @steemcommunity witness.

Thank you very much @pennsif
It's been a good last couple of weeks, and really, a good year so far for me. So many positive initiative taking place, and A Dollar A Day is certainly one of those.
Cheers!
👍
The second rule of steemit is to not work out your hourly rate.
Aren't steem monsters just basically crypto-kitties - a regrettable investment waiting to happen?
And you just hit 10 000 followers, so double congratulations.
Thanks for starting the post with my quote, I was rather pleased with that.
My pleasure 😁 It is pretty much true, at least in my case.
Next write-up of the smart paper, I'm glad you took the time. Next time I feel like giving it a go, I now have other places to review from.
Not sure on @steemmonsters, if it brings people here and keeps them around that that'll do for me.
Cheers!
I had thought to do a more detailed analysis of the blue paper, but I don't think publishing it on here is financially viable. Something like that might have future value to me in academia, it doesn't make sense to put it online for £30. Besides, I'm doing OK out of pop-academic stuff and summaries.
I haven't actually checked out steem monsters in fairness - so I'd better not say anything else about them in case I make a damn fool of myself!
Do you think you'd be able to monetize it for more than £30 elsewhere? If so, definitely hold onto it :)
Yep take a look at SM, gaming is big business - we only need one to go viral and it would be huge for Steem.
It wouldn't be worth £30 per se, but a proper theoretically located and methodologically sound analysis of steemit could be a Doctorate. I've always fancied actually getting a PhD - ever since I abandoned my last one. Probably not good form to publish the majority of it online.
It may never happen of course: but this place is a sociological gold-mine. I'm amazed the researchers haven't already come digging, I would've expected at least some media/ sociology/ digital anthropology Masters students.
There's actually quite a tradition already... you've probably heard of Margaret Mead, who wrote 'coming of age in Samoa'... well about 10 years ago someone did a PhD entitled 'coming of age in second life' - David Millar and Mark Carrigan are two other people to look out for...
An analysis of how offline and online worlds intersect here and especially how the platform encourages the neoliberal subject or the adoption of neoliberal subjectivties (defined here -link) would be an interesting starting point.
I don't think it would make pretty reading once it's finished.
Then there's the methods... I could write a book already about the problems of how to research this place.
Anyway, enough said, this place is a potential way-in to an academic career if someone wants it. My only question is whether I do or not... I just don't need one. I could just go set up a homestead instead... build an eco-haven, or build a thesis?
Honestly, it's a tough decision.
I could do both at once.
Makes you want to stick around doesn't it?
If the digging wasn't so tough at present, I would expect there to be plenty of research types snooping around.
I had that feeling of, 'i need to write a book on this place' when I was heavily involved in the video chat world over a decade ago. Although unattached to money, the social/interaction side of things well, I've never seen anything like it. Gold, in a melting pot.
I would opt for Homestead first, and If you have time, some words later :)
Okay, so it's probably a little too early for me to go full victory dance at this point, or exclaim loudly, "The tide is turning, the tide is turning!" However, if this move by curie makes the leagues and you solid, I'm very happy nonetheless (look at me, carrying on as if my personal feelings had anything to do with this :). Woohoo! Thank you @curie!
Haha 😁
The timing is good, although you may beg to differ!
It's recognition that I'm doing some right, so yeah, pretty chuffed. Cheers!
Nope. The timing couldn't be any better as far as I'm concerned, unless it had happened months ago and continued throughout. And I think you should be pleased. This is very much a step in the right direction. May it continue!
That’s really great news about receiving the support of @curie for the leagues. Congrats!
That is awesome. I am glad you are getting some bscking. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to it.
Was not planning to be too active on Steem today, but now I have to :)
No, I don't!Thanks @curie for sponsoring @abh12345 great engagement league!
Keep it going Asher, you are doing great!
Edit: still waiting for them to Sponsor the world cup contest :)
Oh I really have to post and engage more again, to have a tiny chance in the leagues :)
And I wish I would care more about football!! Those prizes sound amazing!
Congratulations ! That's great news for the League, let's hope it brings much more people into the engagement virtuous loop.
Thanks for mentioning @ivoted too !
I hope you get some steemmonsters cards. I want that opportunity to defeat you in battle! Hehe. I jump all over that one as soon as I noticed it in my own feed. That could be a great thing steemit and I was glad to toss the couple of bucks I could at it. I can’t wait for it to develop more so I can write some content out of it. While I’ve only played a few card games they can be rather fun and enjoyable to share about.
Glad to see you picked up a new sponsor and the community is growing.
@acidyo's steemit premiee league is one that i havent been able to wrap my head around since i first saw it. As a matter of fact, i didnt even know it was a game.
Now that i know, i think i am Interested in joining but sincerely dont know how to. Since you participate in the game, i wouldnt mind you telling me how to join in.
Just wait until he asks for entries in s few months time, the instructions will be on the post I'm sure.
That is great news @abh12345!!! Congratulations :)
Thank you @curie for finding value in and supporting Asher's Curation League!!
Hi Lynn
Isn't it! Super happy with the recognition, and it's thanks to you and the top engagers :D
woowwwwhooooooo awesome work and well deserved @abh12345
Thanks boss! :D
Congrats on 10K followers, that's much deserved, you've been a true Steem advocate for a substantial amount of time!
And it's awesome to see @curie support these kind of iniatives that help elevate Steem to what a majority of users think it should be; inclusive, supportive and quality-focused social sharing and rewarding!
Thanks dude!
And yeah it is, feels like it's all been worthwhile 😁
Congratulations. A hardworker deserves some recognition.
Awesome, huge congrats to you @abh12345! And dude, you just hit over 10k followers, you're having a good day!!!
A fine day indeed, thank you 😁
Congratulation for this big news asher..😁
It's great news, thanks!
Woohoo! Good news all around! I'll have to check all the mentions out in the morning (except pensif's donating initiative, already onto that).
Yeah it's a good one I think. He's put the work in to find the best ones.
Thanks!
My congtats! It's always good to find a long-term sponsor. I'm sure many people agree that you deserve it by your hard work. Now, at least the next month or two, you do not have to worry about rewards:-)
Thank you Erika, that's kind of you to say so. Yes, I can relax a little with that regard, and perhaps look at adding more ways to score the engagement.
Thanks again :)
Hey Asher, this is awesome news for not only you but your league... It is further validation that the league is really doing a lot of great things. I completely agree... Congrats to @curie for recognizing this, and I thank them too... I also think a thanks to @paulag and @carlgnash is also due, without them you may have given up. (I know that isn't your nature, but its nice to not have to push you to consider it) ;)
Congrats also Asher on getting to number 32 in your proxies! That is a major thing and I'm glad to hear you've climbed that high!
Keep up the awesomeness that you are and I look forward to all the project you have in the pipeline maturing! ;)
Thank you Dave :)
Giving up was unlikely, but a reduction in rewards (and possible decline in engagement) was highly likely.
As you know, this place is my only income stream, and to give away prizes out-valuing a post on a weekly basis is not sound economics :)
With this support though, I don't need to worry about that, and feel vindicated that what i've been promoting here has value on the platform.
I've just about caught up with the major topic of discussion over the past few days, and left a reply over on Luke's post.
Thank you for pushing this topic.
Ash
@abh12345 I'm catching up quickly now with this new tool! Wow...I thought I replied to this already!
Yes I saw your replies and thank you for your words of wisdom (as always) ;)
Thankyou for the light at the end of the tunnel...
Let me back-up for just a sec, I have just experienced my first Steemit slump it has lasted for over a week, almost two. I have always loved the ideals of this amazing blockchain and always believed in them wholeheartedly. Of-course like everybody here with even a modicum of insight I have discovered (as do we all) the broken aspects of Steemit.
The whole writing something that almost no-one see experience started to get to me a little. My whole journey started to feel a little dark if truth be told. I was reading many pessimistic posts citing the end of Steemit being more than nigh.
Many people here share a belief in the wonderful core principles of the platform.I discovered the league just yesterday which in turn led me to this post and not only the @curie award but many of the other links contained within it inspired me. I was also hit with a fabulous realisation.
Talk about right place, right time!
So thankyou and thankyou also to the many people here who contribute to an incredibly positive environment and promote the idea of doing things the right way.
May the journey be awesome and shared with new friends. :D
My pleasure to try to help @stevenwood, thank you for your kind comments.
This is really awesome news!
Are you planning to Maintain the leagues like they are now? I can imagine that you either change something in the setup or the prize table?
I'm thinking about adding a little more criteria, but it might not be this week.
The prizes last week and the week before were around 25 STEEM/week, which is pretty much in line with what @curie are sponsoring - i might add a little more and extend the prizes though ;)
Lower the prizes and extend sounds ideal. At least for me 🤨😬

We'll see 😎
Great news!
Sure is, thanks!
Congratulations. It's good news!
Thank you!
Your curation engagement has been a revelation really, and @curie this time, 200 STEEM? That's good.
Yep, to give to you guys over the next couple of months 😁
Congratulations Asher for receiving more STEEM from Curie to support back to the community through curation league.
Thank you 😁
10000 and wished you good luck. :)That is a great news for Curation League and me as a participant. On other note, @noblebot helped you reach
10000 for being nobel? 😁 Cheers!
Obviously! @noblebot loves them who support the community unconditionally and considers them as the real noble citizens of STEEM.
Somehow, I missed this. Congratulations Asher! And thanks @curie. Making dreams come true every day.
This is my life on Steemit!
Thank you, it's really cool of them to support the Leagues - makes me feel appreciated after doing this for 8/9 months :)
Hi Asher, could I please be involved in your Curation League 2? I'm no chance for league 1, but league 2 I'd love to know where I rank...
Certainly, I have added you to the list!
I really like the easy way you have to make known the projects easy to read and understand, about steemmonsters I want to find out a little more I find it really interesting and novel, as well as onedollarday and it is important charity project, it supports me with the project "One opportunity" that consists in helping Venezuelan children who live in the streets, is something very kind. Thanks for sharing this happy day.
It's important to promote the platform and that we are voices of it, so that every day more people start this great social network

Great news, compliments.
You had a very good idea building this league.
Thank you!
You are doing great. Congratulations @abh12345
Thanks!
You are doing great @abh12345. Congratulations
Wow, amazing.
good news. you and they are the motivation for me in steemit.
Thank you 😁
i am following you, thanks you
