Why Are My Steemit Payouts Shrinking Lately? (͡•_ ͡• ;)

It's not just me, is it? Are you bored with the current novel? Or with the "Push it to the Limit" series on old console graphics? Has there been some major blowup in the crypto world I don't know about? I mostly keep my head in the sand and churn out content, so when stuff like that happens I'm always the last to find out.

I'd normally just ride it out and keep doing what I do, but I'm increasingly reliant on Steemit as a source of income. You'd better believe I notice when my average payouts steadily decrease. There's been one heroic whale salvaging my earnings the past several days, bringing a single post out of each 4 up to $35-$40 so that overall the average is $20.

You are the thread that my life is hanging by right now, my dude. But it shouldn't entirely fall on your shoulders! Where are my usual upvoters? Have they all powered down? Are they on vacation? Were they dared to eat themselves and it actually worked?

Is it because of the recent technical glitches? I find that hard to believe. Where else is there to go? Busy.org isn't a competitor, just a faster frontend for Steemit, right? There's nowhere else to go if Steemit tanks. If there's a competing site that's actually taking off, I definitely want to know about it.

It could just be a slow day I guess. I just can't afford many slow days, because as it is right now I have perhaps $200/mo budgeted for food. That's about what I used to get on food stamps before I went off them during last Summer's Steem price surge, foolishly imagining it would last.

Now I can't get back on them because they don't believe me when I tell them the money didn't last. I can't prove it to them because Steemit doesn't provide official records of payment like a conventional job does, and they won't accept my bank statements.

Any info anybody has on why this is happening, I'm all ears. I actually do think it's specific to me, since the earnings of other Steemians I know seem to be about average for their respective pages. Kinda getting stressed out here. If you normally support my content but have been overlooking older posts that haven't yet paid out, please consider bringing those up to $20 or higher.

A novel chapter made $8.54 yesterday. $8.54. Two of today's posts made $3.83 and $9.79. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I can't get by for long if this continues. If you see posts that low and feel you can spare the voting power, I'd be much obliged for the boost. I can only keep the content coming so long as there's a roof overhead and food in my stomach.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Might be the tech issues. Votes we thought went through don't always end up really going through. In general, Steemit has been a hassle to use lately and therefore some are taking a break from it. Plus Steem price is down, so all payouts are lower. Hang in there!

I wondered that myself. What a bummer... Thanks for the answer @kenny-crane and for all the upvotes!

This happened to me too, and discouraged followed. Best wishes to you.

I'm a relative newbie here compared to you, but even I've noticed that payouts across the board seem to be lower. Part of it might be that the big players here are all early crypto adopters, and my interests don't lie directly in crypto so I'm not seeing the big payouts. Part of it is also likely to do with the drop in steem prices at the moment. As steemit evolves towards a more mature platform, I think we'll see more balanced payouts across the board with content creators from all streams getting better return on their time investment.

Yeah like others said mate, not you but this platform is giving me the shits lately, I haven't posted anything for ages due to steem deleting my posts or just constantly hanging, taking 10 minutes sometimes to post a simple comment. I'll always upvote your good content, which is nearly everything I read and watch, with my measly .17c.... which is fucking dropping too I might add. lol

I think its a technical problem. Your post are interesting so its not possible that they ran away but mayb there is a chance that they r bg n all. Nowadays not only in payouts but while commenting also it shows many errors which make me ques"is my acc hacked?" or smthng. Steemit should check for the problems.

On the bright side, you've built up your account well and have an immaculate reputation with lots of followers. The price is down, the site is glitchy, the trade volume is really low... Just keep doing your thing. If you're short a few bucks, burn the midnight oil and make one extra post a day, or comment some more to get some extra upvotes/new followers.

As for new minnows who haven't seen much of a payday, it has to be equally or even more frustrating because we're light years lower on the pyramid of influence and followers. In other words, we're a long way away from the regular earnings per post you're accustomed to, so be happy about that. You've been there for Steemit's glory days and are set to weather this. As for me, I was sold on the amazing earnings, just to sign up and see that those are realistically for the veterans who are permanently trending. I'm scratching and clawing, commenting everywhere just try to catch up with everyone. Aside from one Curie guild nomination, I'm scraping to make much of anything, and giving into using Minnowbooster occasionally to salvage my pride when looking at posts I put a lot of time and thought into making just a few cents.

So, chin up and get creative. If you're really low on cash, check out some of my recent posts regarding thrifting and upcycling for profit since I quit my job and do that full time. It's pretty simple to learn some basics to supplement if you're tight. Feel free to message me at mattcoin8 if you'd like some ideas. Good luck.

I've barely been on the site this week, but got yer back. Just checked your blog, excited for those new Pushing to Absolute Limits posts, finally, gameboy!
I'll be catching up with your excellent content and commenting appropriately when I get a chance, for now, upvotes for a deserving contributor.

Hope things turn around!

Thanks bro. :'3

It's mainly because steem price has gone down and with it the reward pool too. And of course the bugs from past few weeks have made people less active and upvote bots are also failing. So I guess you are lucky to even receive $20 average!

Until today anyways, and for the past 3 days only because of a very dedicated whale.

May be because price is going down, also steemit is updating server many time these days and because of this some of our post does not show up in blog and some time upvoting a post take too many time etc.
Updating server or upgrading on steemit will take too much time so we are facing glitches orr errors while using steemit but i am pretty hard sure about that steemit will fix it very soon and we can get better experience again on steemit.

Due to STEEMIT slower I have noticed upvote problems as well! Anyway I also feel 50% deduction of my regular earning!@alexbeyman,

  1. Steem is trading around $1
  2. Voters got tons of contents to vote

As a result I also in a little trouble! Anyway, I won't let you down! So, I will tip a booster to vote on your contents! I know the whale who voted on your contents! Seems he is little bit busy at the moment! Anyway I never get such whale power on my contents :D

Do a job and keep Steemit as the second income! I think it's the best way to survive in this f**king life totally functionfunction on money!

Cheers~

That goes into your Steem Power. You can still extract it, it just takes a week before the transaction clears.

I hope that changes soon!

I'm currently working on a game project but it won't pay anything for a while.

I think a fair amount of it is the technical issues that others have mentioned, bro. I have had such a hassle upvoting posts todays, I've had to hit the upvote button 7 or 8 times and even then it won't work occasionally. Same thing with trying to leave comments on posts, to the point where I've just been giving up recently. I think between the glitches the site is having and the price drop in Steem that's probably your answer as to what's going on. The technical stuff has been driving everyone nuts, I really hope they get it all worked out asap.

Your content is still as good and as interesting at ever, I really don't think it's anything on your part, Alex. I'm sure within the next few days your payouts will be back to normal, I'd be shocked (Seriously) if they didn't.

I found something out today that might be a small part of the reason why your payouts have shrunk (At least somewhat). It looks like Ned undelegated steem power from several whales, one of whom was upvoting your content quite a bit (Sweetsssj). Definitely could have been a contributing factor on at least a few of your posts.

But I needed that to live ( ・`д・´)

Well, you could do what I do. Just start eating a lot of cardboard. Gives you all the fiber you need, plus it tastes like cardboard.

But, yeah, her voting power is still fairly substantial, however, she definitely took a fair hit there. Apparently she was selling her votes without being upfront about it, like you send her $30 SBD and she gives a 75 percent upvote. Not sure if that is 100 percent factual or if it was for that reason, but I assume there was something happening which led to her and several other whales losing their delegations.

You have two other whales who vote more often on your posts than her though, so I don't think it'll be a huge loss on your payouts, but it still sucks. Hopefully it is just mostly all of the bugs the site is having causing the issue, since I'm still experiencing them even after the update.

For me I got below 35% vote power on saturday, and have been trying to recover some of that, so I have been trying to limit myself on voting. I like to vote, I guess to much, but I also like to read, so have been slowing down some, got back to 67% today, and then well, back to 58% after this vote, and next little people vote. I have to read, and I can not read without leaving a comment, vote power just does not seem to recover as fast anymore, or I am just reading and voting to fast. Don't stop the little people, I am liking that story.

Hey dear @alexbeyman all your steemian friends are here to upvote and resteem you. your complaint is to the point but let us hope for its betterment

keep up the good work .best of luck . i hope your problem solve in hurry.

great post.

@mithuj: This comment is for your benefit so you don't find others downvoting or flagging you.

I have noticed that you have made a number of very short comments on other blogs, which are similar in style to the one above. They don’t really add anything to the discussion of the topic.

Please help keep Steemit free of spam posts.

If you like a post, it is generally sufficient to upvote it unless you want to join in the debate.

Short comments like “awesome”, “nice post” “amazing post” or “really helpful” are generally not seen as part of the debate on the topic ,and if repeated across multiple posts, may be interpreted as spam.

Asking other people to upvote or follow you is also counter-productive and irritating. They may downvote, mute, or flag you.

Downvotes or flags can lower your reputation, can result in the removal of rewards, and may result in your posts not being seen by others.

Don’t worry, I haven’t flagged or downvoted you. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were genuinely trying to encourage the poster. An upvote would have been sufficient.

I often reward intelligent comments. I have a lot of Steempower. An upvote from me is worth hundreds of times a normal upvote. I hope I can reward you for intelligent and thought provoking posts in the future.

(Other bloggers, please let me know whether you agree or disagree with my comment. If you disagree, feel free to upvote the suspected spammer....)

Well its baffling too. I dont know the cause.

Ya I think all of your Upvoter diverted because it may be bored and the second is the problem of steemit work very slow this take more time if we Upvote or comment anybody ,why this happened may be heavy traffic is the cause.
