Thanks for making this very useful video on the Reputation score Alla. For the longest time, I tried to understand the methodology behind advancing in reputation score since it wasn't very well defined in the Steemit whitepaper, which reads like the Constitution lol.
However with continued active participation and engagement with my fellow Steemians on the comments sections of posts as well as continued creation of my own blog posts, I eventually discovered that eureka! you rise faster in reputation the more upvotes you receive from those ranked higher than you in reputation! I'm glad to see that you explain this point very succinctly in your video and I agree completely that it is always important to participate on the platform with good, high-quality comments. Plus steemwhales.com is an awesome site that I continue to check regularly!
In all, an awesome fourth video to your Steemit video series and you are absolutely smashing it right now. Keep making us all proud Stoody! :)
you are welcome ;))) yeah its not hard but i hope it is more clear now!! :)) your reputation is quite good given you only been here a while :)) well done!!!
Thank you for your very kind words - it certainly means a lot to me coming from a hard-working blogger and Steemian like yourself. Yup, I've been working hard every day to create content that everyone can appreciate and benefit from as I approach my one-month anniversary on Steemit wooo! It's great being inspired by your fantastic work on this platform so let's keep it going! STEEM ON!
I was afraid to ask about reputation score because I didn't fully understand it until now. Very informative and thanks for letting me know about SteemWhales too.
Alla - Thanks. As a minnow just 6 days young, your video helps me to understand the Steemit reputation system. I have been already trying to leave meaninful comments as you have pointed out. I have also tried to involve in the Steemit community by participating in contests and even hosting a small contest of my own for minnows and wildlife cause benefit. I am also posting original content of my pictures with a though chain inspired by my picture. Thanks for your guidance.
ay I make a request - When you have time, please do take a look at my blog where I tried my hand at writing - a chain of thoughts on solitude - inspired by my wildlife picture instead of just putting the picture. Thanks https://steemit.com/life/@vm2904/solitude-not-lonliness-a-boon-not-a-bane
Do you have any idea why reputation is stuck for months on 67.4 and doesn't move on.
I got damaged by some downvotes in the name of some stupid whale experiment by smooth and abit while most top members were not active. I held through but got flagged for their fun.
I don't understand why I am stuck since then
I don't know why you didn't move, if that's the case. However I can say that with that experiment, the net reward shares being applied was dramatically less than before the experiment. Because reputation is based on how many shares are being applied to your account, it moves more slowly if there are less (after negative shares are counted against positive).
These series are very helpful. Steemit is not really easy to understand for newbies and we could think of making this series (and other good introductory posts) stickies somehow.
Thank you for sharing this video with us! I'm also new here, so any kind of guidance is more than welcome! :) I will followed you for more.. glad to connect @lavitaebella
So great to hear that! I'm not sure so I will just shoot (maybe you can answer)- how is it with upoviting? If I upovote some posts that amount goes from my wallet? How many upovotes can I give per day?....Thanks a lot for your kind support :)
Wha are your thoughts on "resteeming"....I resteemed your great blog.... what are the positives and negatives or reteeming in your opinion :-) Again thank you so much.
I'm on platform for a week I think, but still can't find my way out. It can be just me, maybe I still don't get what is interesting, who knows. It can be a bit frustrating to make content, spend some time and effort and then feel invisible. We'll see...
So I have a question. Lets say I was reviewing a beer and I wanted to go into how well it paired with a certain food and I used a recipe of a user on steemit for the food. Should I just not include the recipe on my post or would it be better to promote their channel and say where you got the recipe from and resteem their post or should I just say their channel name and not resteem? I hope I am making sense to you lol.
Ok so you would make a post bout tasting beer, you could include a recipe of that beer and link it to original source. But the post still has to be original, like why did you like this beer, whats special about it, pictures ect do you get me?
Yes I get you and it would be a original post. I was thinking more along the lines of like if i homebrewed a beer, my recipe and i thought drinking my beer with a cake you tought me how to make on your channel would pair really well with the beer I made how would i tell people that i got it from your channel. I would not post the cake recipe on my blog but I would want to tell people i made it from your recipe. You know what i mean?
Thanks for your efforts. It's very useful to me :)
"Scam the platform? but I have a grandma that made 60 grand in one night!!"
hahaha.. Great explanation of the reputation system. You hit it right in the nail with the purpose of rep and how it works.
I'd like to recommend to the newbies another nifty tool.
http://steem.cool/
Which shows your reputation in detail as well as showing it in action. So as to make it easier for people to picture how the system works.
Looking forward to more videos!

I got damaged by some downvotes in the name of some stupid whale experiment by smooth and abit while most top members were not active. I held through but got flagged for their fun.
I don't understand why I am stuck since then
Reputation has moved very very slowly since the whale vote experiment started. We may see it move faster again now that it is ended.
yeah i wouldnt know, sorry to hear that happened to you!
Happened also to me . What a joke !
Good to know because those guys really damaged mine
That's unlikely. Your reputation can generally only be damaged with net negative posts.
I don't understand but I don't move further up since weeks. Can you explain?
I don't know why you didn't move, if that's the case. However I can say that with that experiment, the net reward shares being applied was dramatically less than before the experiment. Because reputation is based on how many shares are being applied to your account, it moves more slowly if there are less (after negative shares are counted against positive).
Thanks for this info. I will read a bit more about this topic today

Thanks for these videos. You have a way of explaining the complicated (to me a beginner) so that it's understandable.
yeah i want to make sure its clear :)

I would not post the cake recipe on my blog but I would want to tell people i made it from your recipe. You know what i mean?
ohh yeah of course you can do that! hahah that just recreating recipes!! look forward to seeing that cake ;)
