Engaging With Your Followers on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hey Dtube & Steemit!

My name is Lydia,

I wanted to talk to y'all about engaging with your followers and one another. I think this is pretty important here on Steemit. I think it can also get difficult if you have a lot of comments but I believe its helpful to the growth of the platform.

Also, equally as important I believe is taking the time to go and view others content and interact with them there..especially newbies.

Check out the video for more.

I post new cooking recipe videos here on Steemit every other day. I hope to help inspire others to make homemade food. It's not as difficult as many would think and much more delicious than anything you would buy pre-made!

All things cooking…decentralized!

I'd prefer more interaction, but unfortunately, every day i get hundreds of votes, but not a single comment. in fact, I cherish comments, and reply to them as soon as I can -- assuming I'm not sleeping or at work. I even upvote them simply for taking the time to say even a single word -- after all, this is supposed to be a social platform.

Yeah...its not easy you have to be persistsnt here for sure interacting on others posts first is a great way to go. Also if you have hundreds of votes someone is probably autovoting and not actually seeing your posts so thats why not many comments.

I totally agree! Engagement is key! It allows you to connect more with your followers, and makes them feel like they are valued. I can't count how many times on Youtube I have had people reply back after I commented on their comment, "Wow I can't believe you actually replied back to me." My personal feeling is, if someone takes the time to look at your content and leave a comment, then I should take the time to reply. :) So I try to reply to all the comments. Great topic!

Yeah, especially on youtube its like unheard of nowadays...here on steemit its a lot more common, but I can see it happening here too. I try to get back to all of them and help people out as much as I can even if I'm late lol.

That is definitely good that you try and get back to everyone. And it is totally okay to be late. I always say, drop a comment and I will get back to you as soon as I can. That way I am never late. lol

Well said Lydia, always positive as ever

Besides I still have the challenge I accepted in mind ( the bread post!) haha

Probably when I travel to the US this summer, either way it’ll come! ;)

Besides I’m confused on how to go about creating and composing the post, kinda weird 😂

Post a video. Easy! 🤣

Easy? I guess it is 😂

I'm thr first to drop a comment and upvote!
Whoohoo!

Lol...wooo hoo thanks

This is good for me. I'm always showing up late to the party...

You do a great job engaging with newbies. One thing: Dtube is giving me difficulties. Dlive is working much better. I do not know if it is my computer (I have a Mac) or something else. Just a heads up

I use mac too. I usually have no issues playing dtube videos. They are also working on upgrading the servers so that wont happen anymore. So hopefully soon.

When someone just starts, getting the support of someone like you is not only desirable, but wonderful. The newbies of today will become the big ones of tomorrow and probably will not forget the initial help.

Your absoluetly right. I try to support beginners but its not like my vote is not worth very much. But everything we do to help is wonderful.

Yes! Engagement is king I think in building community. It's cool when people interact with your stuff and give you input/response. It is, after all, a social network! Good reminder that I've been working harder on of late as well. I think it is easy to get busy, and that is often the first thing that can get dropped.

Thanks Capt. It is a social network and we cant forget that. For sure, it's easy to drop it especially when your busy...even when your not lol. It's something to work on for sure. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

I like your outro, never heard it anywhere else. Thank you for reminding me to share a smile with a stranger, I think it works

Come on, I refuse to engage :) I'd rather just sit fat and happy and see what happens. Or not.

Nicely done.

I agree @alphasteem that it is good to interact with your followers and people that view/comment on your posts. I always try to do that as best I can.

I joined steemit a month ago and am my thought on this is that you should try and know the way to interact with your followers too, this will make them see themselves valuable,Ive learnt to always comment on the guys that I'm following that do appreciate me and make me look valuable,i think other should try this too and you gonna have comment on your post especially someone that's influential like our ma'am @alphasteem and others too

Yes, many followers are limited to followers, but not supporters, engaging and communicating with followers will turn them into supporters. in other words the potential follower becomes an effective follower.

Yeah, your right very good point!

Great reminder :)

Thank you. Nice to see you around!

You are so right- sadly not enough people comment and not enough creators comment back.
Whenever I leave a comment that gets ignored it makes me not as willing to comment on this creator's videos again or even watch them, honestly... It might be that the person is overwhelmed (I know I've been sometimes), but the feeling you get as a viewer is just that your engagement with the content is unappreciated. Great reminder for all of us:)

It is important. The only way people get better is by having interactions with people and seeing what they think. I don't think it's a steemit only thing, but more-so that it's still pretty new and people don't quite understand it yet, or there may simply be a lot of shy people afraid to speak their mind in fear of being criticized. Sometimes people may get a little feeling in their gut whenever they see a notifications, due to social anxiety.

very good infomastiom
