So, first to introduce myself. My name is AMULYA and I recently joined Steemit and I got to know about it from Jerry Banfield's video on Facebook. I'm a senior year Computer Science student from India and my interests are in human psychology, writing poems and making art. I'm an avid debater and if you're interested in any of my these fields. Feel free to follow to see some kick-ass content. :P
Now, after coming here, I've been doing my fair share of research to get to know how we the steemers or the steem community as a whole can make the most of the beta version of Steemit.
And after doing these things, I've come up. with 5 tricks and tips.. which some of you might know. but I'm pretty sure that most of you reading this won't know much of these tricks.
So, without wasting much time in random dialogue and script reading, let's jump right into the points.
1. You can check anyone's and everyone's wallet.
Yes! you heard me right. Ever wondered how much those popular steemers must be earning whose blog posts earn more than a 1000 dollars in less than an hour of being posted. Well yeah! you can apparently check their wallet and all it's details. I don't know, if it can be used for hacking and other purposes. but, I won't suggest anyone to even try that kind of thing. this is just a mild glitch on the beta version and I'm 100% sure that it'll be removed as soon as the developers get to know about it.
So, how it's done?
Yeah! so, you go the profile page of any steem user.
Just go to the link : https://www.steemit.com/@username
It'll look exactly similar to your own profile page and then, you don't need to do much.. just click on the wallet tab towards the right side in the middle of the screen.
As soon as you do that, you're inside the wallet of that user and you can see all the contents like their steem, steem power, steem dollars as well as their overall account cost.
2. Never upvote your own posts.
Yes guys!
A lot of us are doing this these days, we post something and we upvote it ourselves.
Now, there's two ways people do this. there's an option while posting which automatically upvotes your post.
Never use that option if you've to upvote your own post because it costs you in two ways, whenever you post something it has a minimum read time and when you've selected the automatically upvote option. it upvotes the post as soon as it is posted.
And by the steem's algorithm, anyone who upvotes your post before reading it, is penalised by reducing his/her voting power. also, the vote gives much less revenue that way.
So, how can you avoid this?
Whenever, you post. make sure to uncheck that automatic upvote option and once you've posted the story and it comes on your profile's blog. then wait for a minute or two and then upvote it. it'll give you better results. I've tried this myself. so, 100% guaranteed results and better revenues.
3. You can't delete your posts.
So, this is basically for all the new users out here. Since, steemit is a blockchain. Thus, all the things that you post stays on the blockchain. that's why, you don't have a delete option yet on the platform.
But what do you do when you make a mistake? you can surely edit the changes but the edit won't have much effect once the starting 10 20 minutes of after post time is gone.
So, sometimes you wish you could just delete some posts because nonetheless your valuable content is getting wasted because of one small mistake.
Difference people have different ways. But what I do is I edit the title and the content of the blog story to "spam" and this way I can easily save my valuable content without deleting the post.
you can view one example of that by clicking on my profile and there you'll be able to see a blank spam post. :)
Bonus point:
Never change your votes from upvotes to downvotes. This costs you your voting power and when your voting power is reduced, you won't be able to make any difference from your upvotes.
This happens because steem believes that you only upvote good content and when you change your vote, it considers you a fraud and thus, reduces your voting power. so, never change your votes.
Alright! guys. Thanks for reading through the blog and If you liked it and you think the content was useful. Then, please show some love by upvoting it and making comments and don't forget to follow.
Also, feel free to ask anything in the comments, if you face any particular doubts.
I'll post more of my trips and tricks very soon. So, stay tuned and stay steemed.
This is good, I learned a few things, most valuable to me was the tip about self-upvoting, I'm going to stop it, didn't know it would hurt voting power. Thanks :)
