Windows 3.0 was released on May 22, 1990. It became the first widely successful version of Windows and a rival to Apple Macintosh, the OS succeeded Windows 2.1x and included a significantly revamped user interface as well as technical improvements to make better use of the memory management capabilities of Intel's 80286 and 80386 processors

A number of simple applications were included, such as the text editor Notepad and the word processor Write, a macro recorder, the paint program Paintbrush, and a calculator. Also, the earlier Reversi game was complemented with the card game Microsoft Solitaire, the card game becomes one of the most popular electronic games ever and provides a gaming model for quick, easy-to-play casual games.

Microsoft has included the game as part of its Windows product line since Windows 3.0, starting from 1990. The game was developed in 1989 by the intern Wes Cherry and the card deck itself was designed by Macintosh pioneer Susan Kare. Solitaire also know as Klondike.

The idea behind the game was to bring people to the use of the new operating system, and at the same time help users who were not yet familiar with graphical user interfaces with the use of the mouse, for example in the drag-and-drop necessary for the movement of the cards. The game allowed selecting the design on the back of the cards, choosing whether one or three cards are drawn from the deck at a time, switching between Vegas scoring and Standard scoring, and disabling scoring entirely. The game can also be timed for additional points if the game is won.

In Windows 8, Solitaire is no longer included by default. However, the Microsoft Solitaire Collection can be downloaded for free from the Windows Store, which includes Klondike plus 4 other solitaire games. Klondike has been added back in Windows 10. Microsoft Solitaire Collection can now be installed from Google Play Store on Android devices.

You guys don't have idea how many times solitaire prevented me from descending into madness, here it happens many times that the internet fails, at least I can remember two times that it has gone away for 2 and 5 months respectively, oh the humanity but it has always been possible count on the classic solitaire as a sure thing, as a curious fact my grandfather plays Solitaire with real cards kind of odd does not?
