Believe it, the most famous Japanese video game company was founded on September 23, 1889, by the Japanese entrepreneur Fusajiro Yamauchi, although at that time the company
based in kyoto started making Hanafuda decks some traditional decks of Japanese cards, Nintendo Koppai it was what the company was called had a great success in fact, the handmade cards became very popular among the Yakuza clans, despite of the manufacture of the cards was slow and expensive and the prices of Yamauchi were high.
Yamauchi was able to expand the business and open another branch in in Osaka, and increase the variety of their cards and a greater production, consolidating them in the Japanese card market. Over the years, Nintendo’s evolve. In ventures like food services, taxi transportation, “love hotels”, and television networks, more variety of toys, etc. Actually it wasn't until 1978 that Nintendo ventured into the world of video games with an arcade called Computer Othello after this game, came more titles like Block Fever, 39 Sheriff or Monkey Magic, then a boy named Shigeru Miyamoto was hired by Nintendo, the rest, as they say, was history.

I already read about Nintendo's history in one of my "I need to spend hours on wikipedia" phases, but already forgot a lot of it.
Thanks for bringing it back to my mind :)
