Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra performed the first Video Games Live concert.
The project of the concert series based on the music of video games of all times and genres giving greater prominence to those games that were more relevant in history since its creation, were created by the American video game music composer, musician and sound designer Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall another video game music composer in 2002.
Tallarico and Wall took three years planning the first live show, developing the technology needed to synchronize lights, videos, effects, and the concert itself also to allow the communication of the conductor laureate with the musicians. The debut of the concert series occurred incredibly on July 6, 2005 in Los Angeles at the hands of Los Angeles Philharmonic an entire institution with 100 years of experience.
For an audience of about 11,000 people, 175 unique music segments from video games of all eras were presented such as Final Fantasy, Halo, World of Warcraft, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, and Metal Gear Solid, couldn't miss the interpretation of the classic Tetris as well. The concert was expanded to 30 cities in 2007 and 47 cities in 2008, and over 50 cities in 2009. More than 300 shows were held between 2009 and 2016. Incredibly VGL has performed for millions of people so far, including in the Middle East, China, South Korea, Japan, Europe, South America, and Australia.
