If I think too much about my writing, it cuts off my creativity and I don't write as well. But if I follow a routine of writing when I first get up in the morning for an hour or two, before I check my email or Facebook feed, that routine feels like a deal I make with myself to write freely and have fun.
Since writing is connected to my purpose in life, I miss writing when I am busy doing other things. For the past few weeks, I had some contractual obligations occupying my time, so didn't write much on line, but I am glad to be baaaack!! I go through symptoms of withdrawal from writing and it causes me distress!
When I don't post for a while, I get anxiety that I will never be able to post again. I get afraid that I will forget how to do it, or I will lose my creative ideas to write about. I get overwhelmed with the fear that I will sit at the computer screen and feel that the post isn't good enough to send out. The only way to push back from this nonsense is to tell the truth and be authentic about the struggle I am going through. That is what moves us forward during our times of fear.
We have to say no to the self-doubt early and often. We have to threaten the fear and doubt and make it go away. We have to tell it that we want to feel good and to create and express ourselves no matter what it has to say to us! Our belief in ourselves and our willingness to continue on with our work protects us and encourages others to do the same. Doing work you believe in changes you and decreases fear.
Doing what you love makes you happy, and helps your body and spirit. You are proud to stand on your own turf. You smile and the world smiles back by reading it and liking it. You are staring down the uncertainty of what you are doing, like so many brave souls before you did. Their work lives on in our hearts and minds. You are putting yourself out there, and daring to be heard. You are giving other writers strength by doing what you are doing and being who you are being! Good job!

Welcome back!
I entirely agree with you. It's a privilege to wake up everyday and you do what you love to do.
Most people hate their job and still doing it. If you have a dream, you want to do something, go for it. Sometimes you have to take the risk because it's worth it and you have to take short term pain in order to get long term gain.
Thanks! We stand together in this!!!
Hi @annhoyblog! I think we are twins! I too, write in the mornings usually, and deal with some of the same insecurities.
I think I'll try something else, and just give fear and doubt a kick in the shin today. ;P Hope you have a great day! :)
That's awesome, shin kicking stuff!!!
