RE: The social dilemma of Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

Lets assume a new user comes to steemit. Then he will only see the posts of a single user with huge rewards. This will most likely make reasonble new users think this site is a scam or something like that. It will make a negative impression.

This is already happening.

I've finally gotten signed up and I am having a really hard time finding any OC. For some reason, I can't get past "trending" on the tags, and whatever IS trending is hardly interesting (a single picture or one sentence) or barely related to the tag. And the amount of points/money they got per upvote is ridiculous. There is one user that popped up with over 10 posts in all different kinds of subjects in a single day and they all got over $30 in upvotes between 5 votes and one comment saying it was boosted by some booster bot/app thing. WTF?

Am I totally misreading what this site is supposed to be about? I was really expecting more OC or least for it to be easy to find. Is there a trick to finding quality content after sorting through all the one-pic posts? Is it already going to be impossible to find actual followers or people to follow who create content that aren't just bringing "TOP 5" posts from other sites...?

What am I missing here?

And there are ongoing high profile marketing campaigns on Twitter. We're basically sending massive invites to people to come to our house when there's shit smeared all over the walls.

I'm making every reasonable effort I can to fight the filth but, if we are altogether unsuccessful because the mighty and greedy, it may be time to consider an exit strategy. I don't like it because, with the right community, Steem can be so much more!
