Just throwing this out there, but this means that more than 1,000 of the current 50,000+ Steemit members were referred here by someone. That's a pretty big deal. I had a discussion about a refferal system here with loads of users, if you're interested:

When I did my campaign I used a special post as a landing page. I ran everything through steem.ly and got the stats from there. Had a bout 300 clicks.
I'll use the ?r= next time to join the global statistics.

yeah, if you short your steemit link with https://steem.ly then you can just add a + at the end of your short link and get the stats. They're a bit ugly right now but they show the data. I'm working on making them pretty-er...

Is it publicly on the blockchain who is referred as well? Meaning could I look up who each person referred, or who any person was referred by?

Why measure something which has no value? Not trying to be a jerk (seriously). I think Steemit should put in place a reward system for referrals. ...that was the point I really wanted to get to.
stats are valuable... many of those on the list are running campaigns and market steem, so it's the only chance to get an indication other than your click stats
Fair enough. I would really like to get the entire community motivated to bring in new content consumers and creators for Steemit. A referral reward system may get a much larger force in play to drive momentum.

With all the campaigns i'm running on facebook, coinmarketcap, blockchain.info and just-dice. It's rather dissapointing that I only have 1 referral yet.
Congrats to all, is this list updated? I want to refer some people but they are not fluent with english. I wish we could have posts according to language. Like us for the Philippines or other countries.
