You have to understand that things happen for reasons.
Of course it does not seems to be fair, but you would be lucky to have your steem on their platform. It turns out that polo and bittrex have been loosing transfers from their wallets, thus having a lot of complaints from users about numbers.
Of course we don't usually get the info until it happens to us. I would strongly recommend: 1) First of all, have your steem backed up by a different method and not leave them on the exchange. and 2) very important you keep track regularly of your investments and always beware of any important issue, from sudden price changes, to the horrifying software troubles we all hate. total agree.
in that case that my steem was on Poloniex and i could not move it to steemit was only for a week (i have sold my ETH for an awesome price and bought steem) - i keep all my steem in steemit, not in the exchange - it gives me power and in steemit power is money :)
yes the exchanges are taking advantage of the fact that they are so few and investors don't have to many choices
also this industry is growing a lot in the last times and will grow much more in the future.
I remember in the end of the 90's the yahoo mail would also crash from time to time as it was only the beginning of the email era and also they would multiply users very quickly - until they have reached a number that is not growing so much as in the past and the service is more stable - same will happen with the exchanges going forward in time
so ... keeping steem on steemit wallet is the best choice at this moment eh
but im a trader ... i do trading for living
wanted or not i have to let some of my steem to exchange
only the withdrawals are disabled, on Poloniex at least.
you can trade steem on Poloniex vs BTC or ETH
gotcha thanks
