50 years ago a Peruvian knife rooster could easily weigh from 11 to 12 lbs and was a very powerful bird, but much slower than current day roosters. The knife used then would easily go over 3 inches but it did not kill quickly because the cuts were deep but did not tear the other rooster enough to cause a quick death due to rapid loss of blood. We have now designed a double edged knife that is olive leaf shaped and its up to three inches long.
