Steemit Recommend a Friend Program

I am surprised that there is no recommendation program for friends and family, whereby if you recommend someone to join Steemit, they deposit a nominal amount to their wallet to kick of with, you receive a 1 off reward of Steem Power. If its a 1 off payment then it would not be perceived as a MLM Platform, I think it would encourage Steem growth and build substance to the platform, whilst receiving further injection of cash?

What do other steemians think?
