The world is what it always has been. It is no different here on steemit. The only difference is that if you happen to disagree with a post, or an opinion you do risk being flagged.
After all there is a hierarchy: Minnows, Dolphins, Whales!
This creates an uneasy silence inside of me. I work hard for my reputation. All it takes is one with a lot of SP to take you down.
- So I stay silent.
It's sad but unsurprising.
Yes, that's me; the bunny who doesn't have the stature or the teeth to stand up for my personal beliefs. Such is life, such is nature. I once posted my gripes about communism; and I was told to immediately take down the post because the tag didn't fit a steemian's definition of communism. I didn't take the tag down, but their 12,000 SP could have flagged me and ruined my reputation.
Steemit is not about freedom of choice, freedom of speech. It is actually pure hardcore natural selection.
It is a jungle, where the teeth is actually Steem Power. Steem Power is crypto; and thus MONEY.
Is that really anarchy? Is that Communism? Or is it Crony Capitalism?
Yes, I am a capitalist; and I dont agree with crony-capitalism. It would seem there is no escape. There is no such thing as a "censorship free" space left. In the end, those with the gold, control the rules. I still love steemit, but I am saddened I cannot fight back with freedom of speech.

This is steemit! Love it or hate it, navigate with care! It's a jungle out there (and in here)

Bearbear, anyone who flags a post without a legitimate reason such as hate speech, racism, child porn etc is admitting to the word that they do not possess the mental capacity to debate a topic or belief. The flagging system was not set up for shutting up people's opinions or their legitimate complaints. Unfortunately there are those who abuse any and all power they are given. Those who abuse their power have to be controlled. This does not just apply to Steemit, but to all situations. Those who act in this manner should be exposed to the platform, judged by the platform, and flagged by the platform. Why should one jerk be able to control four hundred thousand participants by fear of being flagged. This world has put up with this BS since the beginning of time, yet we are led to believe there free speech, no censorship. This reputation number is not required, if the platform is as it is said to be, we are all aware it is a money game, put people and money in the same room and we all know what happens, we see it here especially, there are more con artists, manipulators than you can shake a stick at, everyone trying to figure out how to out do the other person. To bite one's toung is to live in fear, I'll be damned if I'll stay quiet because someone who thinks because they have more money than me, are better than me. To live in fear of reprisals is not really living, nor is it being free...............billytwohearts
Agree on every one of your points. I just think it’s easier to shut anyone up when you can control the rules of the game - steemit is a game
It's capitalism bro.
You just stand your ground, keep posting, keep using free speech, keep doing your thing, and you will eventually be "protected" in this system.
Thing is..I can't stand up to someone with 50,000SP, but I can stand up to someone with 3000SP. There are however other anarchists/ancaps here with much more SP than that. If someone flags you repeatidely they are taking a big risk.
If some communist with 12,000SP flags you for bashing communism, that's OK. If he goes after you he risks pissing of a lot of people, That's his choice. Now all of a sudden HE might have some actual whales on HIS own ass - forever.
That's the beauty of Steemit. He has to weigh how important it is to him to take that risk.
Amazing I’m glad to see people supporting this post as well as pointing out reality thank you
Imagine if it isn't that way. If all people here worth equally and if there is absolutely no difference between all of us.
The conclusion would be obvious, No1 would post, no1 would care, no1 could make a differ.
This way you have to struggle to do even a little thing that si forcing us to do our best to be hateful but successful, envy is what makes humans evaluate this far.
Be mad on them, work harder than they do to make more than they do, become whale and in the end tell them THANK YOU
Beautifully written thanks for commenting
I hope to read more great posts from you, just like this one. You may get flagged from some but you'll have upvote from me on your great, open minded stories
I hope to not disappoint sometimes opinions offend :)
I have never really cared who likes me and who doesn't. Personally, I don't have time for that crap.
I try not to offend, but there will always be someone that doesn't agree with me and gets offended. That is fine. I believe we all have the same rights here.
I am also not vindictive, but the "art of Canley" is not lost on me.
I find no reason to flag anyone. I don't think we should even have that power.
I write what I believe to be the truth. I know my "truths" are not necessarily your "truths" and I am okay with that. And if you don't like it then leave a comment for me and I will be glad to answer and, if I am wrong, to apologize.
Having said all of that, I believe that we are a strong and fair community.
If a whale wants to "ruin" me I can't really stop them. By doing so they have shown us who they really are.
Steem on Brother!
....upvoted and resteemed
PS: Love the pictures!
People on Steemit can flag for any reason, and "any" will vary from person to person. Flagging someone with a higher reputation and/or more SP is possibly a fool's errand, but flagging someone lower on the food chain can have consequences too. I flagged someone a while back who then embraced his inner troll and repeatedly spammed the comment section of my posts for the next month or so.
I think it's totally asinine to flag someone based on them thoughtfully expressing their viewpoint on a subject in an adult manner rather then engaging them in a debate.
I have seen it over and over again done by whales to each other, and minnows. I also see what some of these whales are supporting and I bite my lip. The one thing about steemit is that it is easy to spot the habits of certain individuals and I love it’s transparency. Money shows true colors.
Yes it does. Shows off the ugly and the good.
