Steem really is a gateway "drug" into cryptocurrency. Almost everyone in the world has one or more social media accounts.
The fact that you can post like you would to any other site and be successful without needing to know what goes on behind the scenes is brilliant. People become interested once they have made the money, not before. There are plenty of articles to explain what to do next and slowly educate the users about what steemit is and how bitcoin/blockchain technology works.
With the greed that America tends to have when anyone interrupts a mega money business like banks or credit card companies, I can expect a large fight to put up before the masses fully embrace steem and future innovations on the blockchain.
I'm confident that the minds that are working right now behind the scenes have some great solutions to problems we haven't even thought up yet.
I can see steemit expanding and blockchain technology to include voting, secure emails, and easily understandable smart contracts.
