When I first became active in Steemit, there were no monetary rewards for commenting. There also was no reputation rank. There was only money for post rewards and curation. I took off my mask and got honest. I was myself, raw and unfiltered. I didn't hide anything, and in fact, I did the opposite. I exposed myself, psychologically, that is.

The Reputation Score is basically the way the Steemit community measure the value you have brought. Some readers may choose to read posts from users with higher Reputation Scores as there is usually a greater chance of high-quality content. The Reputation Score is between around -25 and 80. When you first create an account on Steemit.com you begin with a simplified reputation score of 25 and it increases or decreases depending on the content you provide and what other users think of your content.

1. Only upvotes from higher-ranked users increase your reputation score!
