RE: 7 Things Steemit is NOT

I don't really understand the people described in #2. To me reading someone's post just about their general life if you don't already have a connection to them through something else is like watching a vlogger or watching reality TV - and I don't understand it. I watch the occasional vlog from some of the gamers I watch on YouTube as I already care about what happens to them because I know them because of their main content and care because I'm already invested from their other content, but there is nothing that would match me watch someone who only did vlogs and talked about their day to day life or to read someone's blog just talking about day to day life. I think slice of life posts are okay to break up normal content and if people have been following someone doing something of interest to them for ages, they probably will care that that person got a puppy or is going to have a baby etc, but I don't understand why people follow people / read stuff from people / watch stuff from people where everything they do is just based on their life and nothing else. To me that's boring. I don't understand the people I see in the YT circles obsessed with Casey Neistat and I wouldn't understand people doing the same here either. Power to the people it works for, either those who enjoy consuming that content or those who have great success creating it, but I honestly can not understand genres based purely on following someone's day to day life. To me that is secondary content. I'll undoubtedly make posts like that as secondary content but to me there's nothing that would draw me as a reader to something where day to day life is the main content (unless it is day to day life dealing with x or y etc in which case that's not really the same thing). Again power to those who do well with it, but I don't understand that sort of content as main content. I don't doubt it works for some - just not me.

As for the self-voting, I've heard a lot of mixed opinions of self-voting in general but yes, it's pretty shitty to only upvote your posts and no-one else's post. I wouldn't judge self-voting too harshly, but it not really polite for it to be all that someone does on here.

As for discord, discord is pretty cool but it also can reach the point of having too many discord channels you are a part of (raises hand). Tbh though I talk here more than I talk in the discords I'm in for Steemit. I'd much rather start a discussion on someone's post related to their interesting post. To me the discord has a place, but Steemit is the better place to socialise. The discords is like having a discord for a subreddit - it is not superior to having a discussion on the subreddit itself. Steemit is built well for discussion, so why not have discussion on it instead?

I agree, maybe i put it so vaguely on that part of simple things about life. Basically i meant something about your community, your surrounding, your country, and if beyond and others, how that relates to you.....

Just posting about the food you ate yesterday, well.....that real bores. I agree.

Fair enough. Yeah discussing local events, interesting things in your town (provided they actually are interesting) etc can be good, but I agree day to day life like what they ate isn't exactly exciting. We're probably on about the same page there then. Some people do enjoy watching or reading about other people's day to day lives though, which is cool for them, but I don't understand it.
