Mmm interesting! I haven't worried about SEO on my blog and is also doing great, maybe is a good strategy
Exactly, I don't feel like it's a necessary component to one's success here on Steemit. Which is a great thing for us. :)
Yeah SEO can be a pretty difficult stuff to learn, specially if you don't have all the time in the world haha
I think for normal blogs SEO is less important because most of the users get a recommendation from someone else or find it randomly and than they stay. There is not much searching for a blog
I am not a blogger and first time to hear about the SEO. I cannot form a solid opinion if we should use it or not, but I am sure I will follow you to learn good new stuff :)
it will be interesting to see how the blockchain affects SEO. With everything becoming decentralized, what will be the role of search engines like Google?
What would really be interesting is if projects like Presearch really gain traction. Presearch describes themselves as a decentralized search engine, powered by the community. I could get behind that.
I did hear about a decentralized search engine last year, not sure if it was Presearch (it could have been). Seems pretty interesting either way. But I do love Google like a lot of people :)
edit: it was Presearch, just checked :)
Hey Brandon, thanks for the great info and video. What is this YouTube thing you're using? Do they have a good payout format? 😜
Seriously though, thanks for the video. I'm a self-employed writer and SEO is very important to what I do, but the quality of content is 10x more important as you know. More people will find and join Steemit, and more people will find our content on here. And while Medium is high in the rankings, posts get completely lost.
Lol yeah this YouTube thing doesn't pay nearly enough. 🤣
👍 Great informative video. Seriously I was working before in a mini call center to convince business establishment in U.S to have SEO. But, I don’t know 🤷♀️ exactly how it will be done. Will follow your post , I know it will be a great help t get attention from other steemians. 🙏 Thank you and more power @brandonfrye.
Thanks @soulbella, I appreciate your comments. And yeah I'm sure that SEO will always play a part for traditional websites and blogs. I'm actually glad we don't have to depend on it here.
@brandonfrye Can essentially be its own one stop shop for everything from video to SEO (in time). It's just a matter of the platform evolving and growing. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks @jr11.. yeah I think we'll have it all here on Steemit in due time. :)
Thanks for sharing your insight. I believe #Steem already has a search engine. It's called http://asksteem.com. Right now, they have 5,037,901 documents indexed. Steem is doing really well with SEO, posts are popping up on #Google.
And this is exactly why I love this community! Thanks @rescueranjazz for sharing asksteem.com with us. I didn't even know this existed. Perhaps it will replace the Google Search function that's already in the site here. Anyways, that's really cool and I appreciate you bringing that to our attention!
Perhaps it will replace the Google search function in a matter of time. I love the free flow of information on the site myself. The #steem atmosphere is really refreshing. I am glad I can contribute.
Oh boy...He mentioned Empower Network :) But wow, what influence they had directly from those blogs....
I've been building businesses online for almost 2 decades now and still haven't ever figured out SEO....Catering to Google has never been my game plan. Mostly because I'm not that smart to try to figure SEO out LOL
Just create content, add value and people will pick it up :)
Keep crushing it sir....Stick it to the man! Love it lol
Well, I am strictly a blogger (I haven't made a video yet) and have utterly no SEO based decisions in my blog. That said, I have been in the SEO wars and some of the things that make good SEO showings also make good sense when blogging on Steemit. I am a Google+ certified author which probably does as much as all the purposeful SEO work. I am really hoping that Steemit is going to make it worth my while to not have to play the Google game.
So. Thanks for another great video, another great post. I really do appreciate all you do here....
Hey @bigtom13, yeah I also used to play the SEO games with Google. It seemed like every 6 months they were completely changing their algorithm making it harder to compete. Luckily with Steemit we have our own built-in community here and basically social media built-in as well. So I doubt SEO will ever play a big part on here... although I know some Steemians are really on top of their SEO game.
Remember they gave their algorithm changes names? I remember Panda that killed keyword farming (a very, very good thing) and hummingbird. There were several.
I don't miss that crap at all.
Couldn't agree more Brandon. Unique, original content is key to creating a well established profile, as is interacting with followers.
I never thought about the fact that it takes X amount of days to get ranked on Google, but posts only payout for votes within their first 7 days. It does make sense that if a person found me on Google they may follow my future posts, but after watching your video I think that I will stay more away from SEO on Steemit.
Cheers for the great post Brandon!
Thanks for the feedback, @lukebrn. Yeah it's something I don't feel deserves a lot of focus here but it also doesn't hurt to do it. I'll just continue spending the time I would on SEO taking care of my following and providing the type of content their looking for.
No worries! Yep I completely agree. Spending time on building a community of followers and actually giving back to the community is crucial to success on this platform. That's what my new series focuses on - showing Steemians how to make passive income through cryptocurrencies!
I'm beginning to think you're never going to run out of topics to cover...this stuff is so complicated! in 11 minutes I went from not knowing much at all about SEO, to worrying about it extremely, to not much again by the end of your video. btw I like your new focus on 11 minute videos. not that the 45 minutes ones were not informative, but its not for nothing that research shows that the optimal podcast length is 20-25 min and the optimal video length is 10-15 min. best bang for your buck. Keep it coming!
Thanks @rmorel for the feedback. And trust me I prefer the shorter videos lol. :) Some topics are a little deeper than others so obviously require a little more explaining but I prefer not to drag things out if I don't need to. And you're right, there's almost an endless supply of topics to cover here on Steemit. Tomorrow is gonna be a good one! #cliffhanger
waoooww man !! what a great idea you shared <3 thank you so much for sharing this :) Have a great day keep in touch <3
Sure thing, thanks for the feedback @ayun. Have an awesome day!
I think SEO for steemit would be purely for gaining followers like you said. There's no other upside to it.
Yeah like it matters. I don't think you really need robots or SEO on this just use the right tags.
No I don't do SEO on here. Just write whatever comes to mind
That's really a good thing. It doesn't happen to everybody, but some people get so caught up with trying to perfect their blogs for the search robots, that they forget about their human readers. lol
Yes its not perfect but its me haha
SEO is just a tool, those who rely on SEO are going about it the wrong way in my opinion, quality content should be the focus. I agree with, there is nothing to be worried about. great video
I like your point about the long term strategy, but in the short and medium there should still be payed attention on SEO.
Agreed
Hi brandon this post was very informative and you taught me something new about SEO something I didnt even know about
I think they are also a long-term strategy like yours

Unique and quality content or article is the best . SEO is not a good thing .
Thank you @brandonfrye for making a transfer to me for an upvote of 5.72% on this post! Half of your bid goes to @budgets which funds growth projects for Steem like our top 25 posts on Steem! I don't actually care about SEO at all since my plan is to start sharing some of my content exclusively on Steemit and bringing in new users like that. I don't think SEO will help my worth that. At least it hasn't helped me much on YouTube.
I'm very new here on steemit, so I haven't thought about using seo yet. Thanks for sharing your advice about it.
Sorry I am a newbie here and have no idea what SEO is, .... on my way to google it..... :)
Lol, it's a deep subject. But luckily I don't feel we need to know it in order to be successful on Steemit :)
I never thought about SEO, but I am more a passive content creator (liking and commenting)
One Question about your comment picker: does it count replies too ore only main comments?
Only the first-level comments.
For Steemit I just try to post something good and put appropriate tags, and also interact with the community so that people know I am here, that's it..
I am glad we dont have to worry about SEO here, I am a super budy university student and I dont have the time to learn all that😂😂. Anyways @brandonfye would you please please do a detailed tutorial about using Dtube, because I uploaded my first video yesterday and no one saw it. It wouldnt even appear in the search results!😂 it would be greatly appreciate it
I agree that SEO is not so necessary as it once was. Steemit has created a whole new paradigm of its own and Google's importance is waning (sort of like Bitcoin's influence...)
Also will you please do one on reputation, what it means, how it affects you? Why arevsome people in the negative? How to increase it?
That's a great idea for a video. Thanks @mahmoud-shafik!
I've watched almost all of your post and i really like the way you explain everything about Steemit, its easy to show how it is done rather than just reading it. Thanks again Brandone.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback @keithmontallana!
I am a strategic storyteller. Working online most of the time. I am ALL about SEO and copy and stuff.
Yeah, you don't need that SEO stuff here. Not yet, at least. The day the seven days window profit is gone, or if there is some kind of referral program implemented here, THEN you are going to need it.
Me? I am actually quite satisfied right now. SEO can be a real pain sometimes. :)
Thank you for sharing!
Agreed, that could always change but for the time being it's really nice not having to worry about it. :)
Thank you @brandonfrye for making a transfer to me for an this reward.
Всем привет может кому то интересно , не знал об этом!!!Заранее благодарю за голос!ВСЕМ ДОБРА!!!

Hey, here to play devil's advocate but the SEO approach really depends on your intentions.
One thing I can say is there are a few good SEO tips for people looking to use a bit of their Steemit authority to spread juice to their own websites.
Make the title shorter, publish, this will make the permalink shorter and more SEO friendly, then you can simply edit your title to the full-length version and that will update while the permalink will remain short and succinct. An easy tweak that has some small SEO benefit.
Your post-payout must hit a certain threshold before the links become “dofollow”. I heard from someone that the threshold is around $9 or $10? Though this may have changed since Steem is now more valuable.
One last note, for those that have a separate website or blog, it's not a bad idea to try this since Steemit has some pretty supreme domain authority now.
Cheers
Great information here. This is something I did not know about and you did a great job covering it. Will have to consider the options moving forward...cheers!
@brandonfrye I really liked you Youtube videos, they are very helpful to newbies like myself. I am not able to view #Dtube videos on #steemit, am I doing something wrong? I click on the video and nothing plays.
Nice info, I think this WordPress plugin for steem https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@howo/introducing-steempress-beta-a-wordpress-plugin-for-steem will change the game, currently, there is 30% website based on WordPress, and this plugin allows us to post ourwordpress blog post to steem it. how coo is that, see lot of blooggers will join steem it.
