I, along with so many Steemians, have roundly criticized the mainstream media for their biased presentation of bitcoin and ethereum, as well as altcoins like our beloved STEEM cryptocurrency. The most common thesis is that cryptos are speculative gambles unlikely to benefit society after the craze is over.
While it's true that nothing lasts forever, I object to the fanaticism angle. Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency complex will establish stable, steady normalcy at some point. However, this does not mean that their value will go to zero.
When the first automobile was introduced, I'm sure it fetched a significant premium. Did that mean that automobiles were speculative purchases and that the fad would simply fade away? Far from it! Instead, America became an automobile culture.
I believe that the next step in human societal evolution is for the world to embrace a blockchain culture!
I Am The Mainstream!
Many of you may be familiar with my work with the mainstream media. If not, I'm a frequent contributor and financial analyst for InvestorPlace Media. My articles have been featured and redistributed in some of the biggest business media markets, including Yahoo News, Kiplinger, and MSN Money.
It's my passion to help bring positive light to the cryptocurrency markets, simply for the reason that they've changed my life. Here are two articles that I wrote for InvestorPlace that featured bitcoin, ethereum, and yes, Steemit!

John Q. Public NEEDS Your Support!
I would not have found out about this awesome, paradigm-shattering platform of Steemit were it not for my good friend @mikeparker. Indeed, he is the only reason I'm involved at all in the cryptocurrency markets.
If I wasn't his friend, my only avenue of exposure would be the mainstream media. As you know, that's a double-edged sword. On one hand, I would at least learn about the cryptos. But on the other hand, it would be biased information.
In fact, very few of us in the mainstream media actually understand the dramatically positive implications of the blockchain and the cryptocurrency complex. I'm asking for your help in shifting perspectives, and helping change hearts and minds.
Please share the above links with people who are unfamiliar with Steemit and the crytpocurrency markets. Also, it would be great if the Steemit whales can help a brutha out! Help me help us all drive this message to the mainSTEEM! Thanks @cassidyandfranks for that...and no royalty for you! Just kidding! :)
We Are Making Progress!
An awesome colleague of mine, Dana Blankenhorn, recently wrote an article entitled, "Blockchain and a Kenyan Millionaire." You can find it here -- http://investorplace.com/2017/05/blockchain-and-a-kenyan-millionaire/#.WVBD31GQyM8
Members of the mainstream are coming to understand the enormous leverage of the blockchain, and Mr. Blankenhorn is one of them.
Upvoted and resteemed!! 😉
That's super kind of you, thank you! :)
Maybe you can do an article on this
https://steemit.com/steemisland/@riosparada/steem-island-crowdfund-this-is-your-chance-to-own-a-part-of-steem-island
That's awesome! Yeah, I'll definitely have to do something about this! :)
Awesome!! We can make this happen!! Even if everyone gives like 5 steem each were there!

The problem with cryptocurrency and blockchain tech in general is that its intangible and invisible, so its little difficult for general public to grasp just like physics or calculus, hence it can't be compared to automobile revolution.I'd say its more in line with early internet where people had little to know clue how it would change all our lives forever, I believe the same is going to happen with cryptocurrencies!
My actual words were an automobile culture. Culture itself, as you know, is intangible and invisible, but it reflects through either the physical platform or through human societal behaviors. The latter point is what I see occurring for the blockchain and cryptocurrency markets.
I'd also avoid for your own edification using absolute statements such as "it can't be compared to..." on matters of descriptive opinion. Someone can just as easily say to you that your argument "can't be compared to" the early internet for whatever reasons are conjured.
Oh don't worry, you're going to see a LOT more Media attention towards Crypto currencies in the very near future!
The jury is still out ... I've got the hard numbers and it does not necessarily look good, unfortunately. I will share my data soon.
until we get these exchanges working properly I hate to suggest crypto to anyone. They are soooo shady.
That's an honest counterargument, and I respect that. Certainly, cryptos and even the Steemit architecture -- which I love -- has a lot of work to do.
I agree. I am sure it will get better. The consumer will not allow this crazy shit for long.
As my good friend @cassidyandfranks would say, "FIST BUMP!" :)
Crypto currencies may actually become The currency of the future, worldwide if all other (monetary) currencies plummet. Could it be that cryptos could be playing right into the hands of world governments and the world bank?
Currently (and just rationally speaking), I don't think the dollar will collapse completely and totally because it's not backed by fiat; it's backed by the most powerful military in the world. And because of that, I think other major currencies will stay afloat because the dollar "needs" them to.
Well considering that point of view, then yes. The fittest survives.

Really like your passion. I tend to think that maximalists are counterproductive (those who believe that one model will rule them all). I appreciate that you come from traditional media outlet, which is the incumbent model. Your experience can be an asset to new, innovative platforms like Steem. As a broader point, I think innovations will grow organically when newcomers and incumbents collaborate and compete. R3, a consortium of the largest banking & financial institutions, are building some of the most promising use cases in distributed ledger to tackle problems in financial markets.
I'm definitely trying to leverage my traditional media credentials to help in the transition to blockchain-powered innovations. I agree -- the best innovations result from newcomers and incumbents working together!
