Thanks for this video @jerrybanfield. I did not really understand the value of steempower until watching this. I have a follow up question though, each time you upvote something, does that come off the $30000 you invested or is that new money? I am still new to steemit and trying to work it out.

It's new money. And 25% of your upvote value adds to you wallet value.
@choogirl wonderful question! The power of the vote is determined by the Steem Power and how many times I already voted meaning it actually does not cost me any money! Instead it helps Steemit decide where to issue the newly minted Steem and SBD each week. Basically there is a limited pool of new Steem and SBD given to creators each week and the most Steem Power we have, the more our vote impacts who gets how much!
