The Thing About Steemit - The Golden Rule

I'm sure everyone would agree with me when I say that a basic skill for survival is adaptation. In case you don't agree, I will give you a few examples.

If you are a black in a black neighbourhood, what do you do when the police pulls you over?
A. Put your hand in your pocket
B. Stay calm and polite and keep your hands where the police can see it

If you've been around the world, your answer has to be, "It depends".

While option A would most likely get you shot in the US, it will elicit a smile from the police some other places around the world. Of course this is because while some people are known to pack a weapon, others pack bank notes and that makes a world of difference but I will leave the rest to your imagination.

Okay, so I recruited a bunch of guys from a ponzi WhatsApp group to join steemit and quit wasting their time and money on get-rich-quick schemes. Their major interest has been, "How do we get the money? How quickly does a withdrawal hit the bank account? How often do we get paid?" Easy tigers. These are from folks who have been throwing their money away for quite some time now. Talk about the proverbial tortoise!

My answer, of course was, "If you know everything you're supposed to know about steemit, you would never withdraw your balance unless you have a life emergency."

"You see, while we like to compare steemit with Facebook, it is really nothing like it except that investing in both in the beginning and holding on to your shares would make richer than making withdrawals and powering down every other day."

Like in my initial analogy, spamming people and asking for likes on Facebook would get you likes (equivalent to smiles) but spamming people and asking for upvotes on Steemit would get you flagged or down voted (equivalent to getting shot).

The thing about steemit is you have to learn the rules first before you engage. And if all you learn is

Do unto others as you will have them do you

then you would have learned the most valuable lesson.

@churchboy

I'm learning to keep my posts short. I hope this is short enough. Have a great day.

Steemit is not a get rich quick scheme, neither is it an easy money source. You want to earn here, you've got to work hard, write quality articles, make friends, leave quality comments on posts and so on. You do all these consistently, your furtunes here will keep growing. And why withdraw your earnings when you can power up and even earn?

I pray to grow my steem power so I can upvote you, my friend @sunnyebinum. You're appreciated.
