I've been reading both sides of this fence the last few days. From what I hear, despite a 'democratic' voting/flagging system, some larger accounts spread their power across multiple accounts and then use them to manipulate rewards/flags etc.. as each account they own gives them powerful votes. Not sure about how true it is but I have heard of it.

I keep changing my mind as to who is right XD

I think it's not worth for minnows to be flagging whales. First, it wouldn't make a difference and secondly, their account could get nuked by a few whale flags. The nail that sticks out gets hammered :(

Yeah I agree

Problem is steem power! Check current trending top from steemit. Some guy got hidden because someone dropped a 200$ downvote on him. Big bunch of newly created steem goes to hodlers -> leading us to have another bunch of "banksters here. Who can control everything and rape the reward pool.

I need to do more research before I can give you an opinion on the issues you've raised, i'm still a noob :P - thanks for the comment anyway :)
