RE: Steemit Shortcomings as a social media platform

in #steemit7 years ago

I believe there is a way for people to chat besides commenting on posts but I am not positive. It might be through one of the app’s people have developed.
One of the main differences between this platform and others is this is open source. Fakebook and the other mainstream platforms are not. They also are heavily invested in their own company making all the money whereas Steemit is spreading the funds to its users albeit quite modestly but it still does.
My point being is that this is a different kind of social media; we are on here to make money by supporting each other and the mainstream platforms are the typical western design: all about your own business bottom line, everyone else can suffer.

Very well said.

I thought it was open source? If it’s not then how do people develop apps and other media that connect to the Steemit block chain? I may be ignorant to the details but I had assumed it was open.

@cmplxty I share your thoughts and opinions. They are mindful and considerate. I can only hope that with time i'll get to understand their mode of operation better. Thanks once again.
