RE: Stop Making Steemit All About the Money, It Won't Work - And Other Ranting About What Sucks About Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

I've been on steemit for about a month. I'm trying to raise awareness about invisible disabilities by telling my story. Of course, the money potential brought me here. However, the "circle jerk" is frustrating. I'm new to blogging and I'm battling with my PTSD every day. I can't write about it every day. I'd like it to be more social where it's easier to get new content from people you really want to see. Like a notification when they post something new. Chat is on a seperate platform which is frustrating because then replies turn can turn into public conversation. That's annoying when you take it beyond "nice post" , "thank you". Connection is the key here and connecting is not simple or at ease by any means here. It's frustrating. I've been contacted by a few people and we want to collaborate and write blogs together. That's a very difficult thing to do when you don't know them and they very well might be in another country and to chat about what you want to chat about is on a completely different platform. Then when you appreciate someone elses post and you want to share it, out of respect because you think it deserves it... your own blog gets covered up. That makes you not want to share others posts. I haven't made hardly anything on here. It's frustrating but it's also ok. As much time I spend on here (because I'm disabled and can't work) and as much effort and energy it takes to write my very personal blog is.. it would be nice to make some money off of it.
