Bid bot earnings 5 times higher than earnings from blogging+commenting

in #steemit6 years ago

In July and August I actively used bid bots to see if I could earn more than I do just from blogging+commenting. The final result is quite shocking if you ask me. When I started at 1st of July I had about 50 Steem. It took me about 5 months to collect that 50 Steem. And I think close to 10 Steem I won with contests. Mostly from winning Ashers curation league.
So in July and August I earned 65 Steem, mainly by using bid bots. And in August I was 3 weeks on holiday 😎.

So from blogging I earn on average just below 2 Steem per week. And that amount does include a small bid bot profit as well.
By using the bid bots I earned about 10 Steem per week. Cause I was only about 6.5 full weeks active in July and August.

I conclude that bid bots make me earn 5 times more than blogging. And although it does cost me quite some time, it's less time consuming then blogging and commenting.

I think a mix is best. Write a good blog and throw on a bid or two to make yourself feel like a dolphin while having your posts gain a little attention. However when people bid on junk posts or go overboard it can damage long term viability of steem.
Also I find in general since around May, bots have been less profitable.

howdy sir crypto-econom1st! hey this is interesting, I haven't heard this kind of comparison before but it sure makes those evil bots look better!

Or not making those bots better. Cause I would say it's not the intention of the bots that I profit from them. Although I would say the same about the bot owners, those owners earn money while it would be much better (for the whole eco system) to upvote great quality content and comments.

You are talking about making a post and then sending the bid bots to it within the first 30 minutes? And the big, known bots, or the smaller ones?
I think that's an interesting conclusion, because everywhere I hear people claim you're only losing money by using the bots...

I earned most of the money via smaller bots that upvote comments. And only a small amount via the large famous bots. And via the large bots you can also earn, but you do need a good tactic like buying upvotes for posts with a maximum age of 10 minutes.

For this post I spend 5 Steem and got an upvote value of 6.47. The author reward will be about 90% is $5.82. So that will be close to 5.75 Steem. Which is a 15% profit on the investment.

The only thing I would prefer is that I could scale this up. Cause if I could pay once 25 Steem to get an upvote with a net value of 29 Steem, then I wouldn't have to spend like 1-2 hours per week.
But upscaling is quite difficult. And with HF20 coming quite soon I don't really investigate the upscaling possibilities.

If you won't mind, I'llcontact you onDiscord one of the following days. I could really use sometips regarding the @newbiegames account. I need it to grow, but I don't have the technical skills on how to achieve it...

You want to try to let it grow by spending money on bid bots to gain attraction? And at the same time earn money or at least not lose any money via the bid bots?

Discord is of course fine.

I'm going to have a talk with Dave first about the future of the account. I'll get back to you on Discord later

Very interesting. It seems our accounts have grown in a very similar fashion for the first few months.
I have just this week bought a couple of minnowbooster votes. I feel silly for not doing it before now. It is way more of a motivation to post when seeing payouts break a dollar.

I only think it's a good thing to buy upvotes when it provides a profit. That's because I don't believe in the advertising effect.

Oh I agree for sure. My account is much to small to do anything at a loss.

steem is fucked bro

Lol 😁

I guess all newcomers will come to this conclusion. So I really wonder how long it will continue?

Are you going to stick around for a while?
