After 20 Days on Steemit... a bit of hustle and struggle... I wanted to share some of the lessons that I learnt. I hope that these will help new comers to the Steemit platform make better decisions than the ones I made.
Initially I will be 100% honest and say that I joined Steemit to make some exact money. This was meant to be a supplement to my day job income. I also treated it more like a job and forced myself to post at least 2x a day. After awhile it became a lot less fun and more like an actual job. Forcing myself to post even when I had little valuable to say, meant that my post quality suffered.
I then did some reading and found someone who said that you need to think of Steemit more about having fun and less about making money. They said to post things you are interested in, and to post when you want to rather then all the time. After a bit more thinking, these are the best lessons that I came to:
- Content quality is key and doing your best matters. This is true not just on Steemit but in life in general. So what if it takes a couple hours longer to make a post. You should always try to do your best and to produce content that you love and are proud of.
- I learnt that transparency and honesty are values that the Steemit community holds in high regard. This can be difficult because economic benefits make us less impartial. The best suggestion that I have here is to produce content that you love, as this will then override any economics. Β Β
- I also learnt that there are people out there that will follow your content and support you as you start out. So big thanks to @saikr & @simplylizelle for looking through my content and commenting on what I had to say. This means a lot to me.
I guess that the best lesson of all is that you should do things for passion and love and not to make a quick buck. I take these lessons to heart and I wish that other new content creators joining Steemit will do the same. This is a beautiful & free tool for expression ... so thank you all for listening.
Thanks for the shout-out! You write good content so it's easy to support it :)
Ya man, unfortunately the chance of making your fortune on Steemit seems to have been for those who joined when it just started out a year ago. Who knows? It may climb quite a lot more still, but it was the guys who could buy in when Steem was under a dollar who were able to make their best returns.
All you can do now is to keep building into the platform and keep chugging along :)
Like you said, write about what interests you. People can smell desperation and are repelled by it, which makes vote begging so intolerable.
Steem on!

Things done with passion, you will never get bored with ,when you do something passionately you will always put in the work. Little by little will get there so long we don't stop or never give up.

I've found It's always better to make content you're proud of rather than try to force a post out every day as well.
Im gonna try hard to do better
Thank you so much for you share @crypto-n-custard!
I started yesterday and I am making schedule about what I will write in Steemit. It's like you said, we only have to write about what we love and make us happy, not some random articles only for making money.
For your great share, I will follow you and be in touch in other articles! I want to show you my support and my thanks :D
Cheers,
@t-miles

As a newcomer too, I totally agree. I'm not trying to force anything here, just letting things evolve organically. It's more fun that way.
