It seems like a cheesy thing to say but I honestly feel that Steemit is making me a better person. So I'm gonna use #testimonialtueaday, which is initiated by @kus-knee, to share what Steemit has done for me and how I feel it has improved me as a person and a fellow Steemian.
1.Learn To Listen 👂
Steemit is a great chance to develop your social skills. You can make a hundred comments, but it is usually the one you put that extra effort into that will pay off and perhaps even give you a new follower. It's about taking the time and reading, sometimes even between the lines, that can allow you to make a comment which will get the authors attention. This lesson is important, and it's a very useful social skill- when you truly learn to listen to someone else they will also want to hear your voice.
- Make yourself heard
Sitting around and waiting for people to discover your talent won't get you many followers. The chance that someone catches your post in the feed is the same as if you sit alone in a corner during a party. Get out of your blog post frame of mind thinking and talk to people. Like they say in advertisement - if people can't see you you don't exist. The same rule applies to Steemit and once you realize that it will improve your chances to be seen by a lot. You can add some personal touch to comments with a giph or a picture - it makes your voice stand out and be heard more easily.
3.You have to give to get
Steemit is very different from reddit in the aspect that you have two camps - usually speaking you are either a author or you are a reader. On Steemit you are both. So while it's important to make good posts on Steemit, I would say it's equally important to read and appreciate other's work. If you make a good post you might help to entertain someone. But like they say - money talks.
Remembering to upvote others and commenting on others is important. I'm not religious but I still believe in the golden rule; "do unto others as you would have done unto you"
These are just some of the things that I find I get to practice and improve on Steemit. This place is all about learning to share and care - it's the key to succeeding here. Simply upvoting yourself and keeping by yourself won't get you very far - it's when we spread the love that we get it back in abundance.
very motivational thoughts
Thanks man
Definitely agree with a lot of what you are saying. I have been able to connect with so many people worldwide that I never would have otherwise connected with. Working together towards a common goal is a great, learning process as well. And as you said, give to get. important to make sure you help others before you want it in return, seems to be working well for you. keep it up
Thanks buddy - and I would definitely say the same for you. As you say we are all working together for the same goal - that's where the power is in Steemit . Btw how much longer till you go to Shanghai ?
Heading to vietnam next week for a 10 day motorbike trip, then back for the olympics. A quick visit to see family and friends in Canada and then shanghai second week of March
The designs are looking superb once again. When I went on both of your accounts tonight in London time I had to follow you again on both accounts as it was showing up you were been unfollowed. Strange I thought cos I already followed you on both of your accounts already.
A Steemit post a day keeps the doctor away haha.
I think in one direction Steemit can be good to expand and blow the cobwebs out of your memory. The downside can be when people just scan posts and not read them correctly. Which I think can shorten the memory span and disturb focus and concentration levels haha!
Haha I hear what you say. I think if you want to comment it's smarter to read anyways because chances are bigger you get a decent upvote. No shortcuts on Steemit -the same as in real life
Great post and I feel the same about Steemit. I actually started a New Years Resolution this year on Steemit to do 3 things each day on the platform.
So far so good, only 349 days left to go...
I honestly think those are awesome goals. You can tick number one off your list for today haha
I already had that one crossed off for today by memeing one of my favorite people in the crypto space (Omar Bham aka @crypt0).
:D
Hahah well you definitely nailed that one
Great article @dandesign86
Thanks buddy :)
You have a really good a experience to tell here on Steemit. I agree with what you said, it's not only about blogging, it's about creating connections, sharing, finding experiences and people who share the same interests. Honestly I didn't expected this way when I started out, but it was funny finding it out and learn about it!
It's an awesome experience :) it's definitely super unique and it's easy to spend hours on here without noticing how fast time flew by
True! And that can be a problem when you have a wife... ;)
The Vikings were always good people
Haha thanks buddy
All the points you made makes a real sense.
Your point "Simply upvoting yourself and keeping by yourself won't get you very far" makes better sense.
Great going @dandesign 86.
Thanks buddy
Super nice content @dandesign. Seems like you have a lot of things learned on this platform and you are so close to your success. And by following your post it made me think that you deserve to be successful here. More powers!
Thank you that is very kind of you to say - hard work pays off on Steemit - just like real life
It also helps you learn to better think outside the box. Being here helps teach us skills we have yet to learn. Patience is a big one, especially for me.
Love all your fish btw. Very cool.
Hi! I'm new here. Really need help. Please vote My articles. I vote for yours. They are very good. Thank You!
I agree with just about everything you say but I could never have said it so well
This saying is what I live by as well do unto others as you would have done unto you
