RE: Anti-Spam in the Era of Bots and Automation

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

While this is a great initiative that I support, its impact in the bigger picture will be next to non-existing. It's merely a drop in an increasingly growing ocean. It's simply not enough.

The way I see it, the easiest - and possibly only - solution to this issue the obvious one. It's already used by reddit and millions of other websites.

Captchas. To submit a new post you would have to fill out a captcha. Sure, basic captcha AIs can be used to bypass oldschool-warped-text-captchas but Google's reCaptcha is a whole other story.

Just my 2 cents.

Sort:

steemit is decentralized, isn't it? How can a captcha appear on blockchain?

I might not have thought my post through.

What I was imagining when writing my initial post was someone using/abusing Selenium WebDriver (or something similar) to submit posts, in which case a simple captcha on the site would have stopped them.
