Lately I've been pulling out a small portion of SBD from my account with the general idea that SBD will rise once again to the $7-$8 USD level. Currently, it is again sitting below $5 USD.
At the same time, incoming rewards have been generally lower for my content lately. I could speculate about this (more youtubers publishing content to Steemit, fewer whales upvoting during this depression in Steem and SBD prices, who knows), but truly that's beyond my control.
Should I buy Steem Power with SBD?
Over time, I've made investments in Steem Power with SBD, but at significantly different STEEM and SBD values. The question now is, I could power up to 5000 Steem Power and officially no longer be a minnow with about 125 SBD.
What do people think about this? Is it a good idea in general? Is it a good idea at current STEEM/SBD exchange rates?
I will power up all SBD i get eventually. I am, like you, waiting for the right moment and concersion rate. 5k Steem Power is my goal atm.
Do it David!!!! I've said so many times, this is a marathon, not a quick race!!! today is the day you become a Dolphin my friend!
Like anything else you put your money into @davidpakman, It's a speculative investment. But, for the potential over the long haul, seems a worthy re-investment of the rewards you have earned since coming to the site. To which, by the way, you have been a great addition... Glad you're here... what do you have to lose?
No... maybe dont do that... Maybe it is better if You do that to me LOLOLOL
eheheh :D
You should go for it for sure. Cause You are one of the guys that came from conventional media but have embraced the community in here. :D
How much is your vote worth?
well that depends on the value of Steem at the time, right?
What benefit is there to remain a minnow except that they can dive deeper than a dolphin who has to come to the surface for air once in a while. Same with being a whale. The biggest downside to being a minnow is that dolphins and whales are always trying to eat you.
I can't tell if these are metaphors or if you are speaking literally.
Sorry. Mostly whimsical. I don't yet know enough to fully appreciate the impact of your decision one way or the other. Is there some place here that establishes the minnow, dolphin, and whale levels or is it just metaphorical? Thanks!
SP is where it's at. The goal is to grow your influence as much as possible before the masses are on Steemit. I say Power Up!
thank you, I just might!
Where did you get that graph? It's pretty cool!
SBDs are designed to eventually go back down to $1 (where they are intended to be) So I think hoping that they will go up is a huge risk. I would buy steem with sbd as soon as you get them. Steem is designed to go up in value while SBDs are designed to stay at $1.
the graph is from steem.supply
Thanks!
@davidpakman flexing on us plebs ...JK ...go for it , I am waiting for a drop in price to power up to that level.
I have been holding back reinvesting my BTC mining income for the same reason. BTC is so low that the earnings are reflect this. So it will be better to HODL the BTC and reinvest when it pops back above 10K
Go for it!
Try to get as much power as you can.
Power up!
Yes good @davidpakman
Why not, it is a nice round target.
I'm trying to push myself to 500 as my major SP target before I start using some of the rewards to invest into being able to do greater things on here beyond curating.
this is a very good target buddy, a good post
Nice post friend.
You is great man.
Succes for you.
I do not agree to spend Steam at this time, because it will rise in the coming days and may exceed $ 10 @davidpakman
I say do it. It's an awesome feeling to finally not be considered a minnow. I'm only just over 5000 SP right now but I'll pretty much power up all my SBD eventually. It's just a matter of waiting for the right ratio. I think as long as SBD are over the $1 mark you should be good. There will always be more SBD coming as long as you keep posting. But at the same time, I sold my SBD for steem when SBD hit $2. I thought I was doubling my money and then the price went up to $18 CAD just a few days later so I'm sort of kicking myself for that even though I could have never seen that coming. Maybe sell some now, but leave some in case the price jumps.
has posted a more important estimate about Estimate. He has posted a very important post from your post
Getting to 5,000 will add about 3 cents to your vote power. The question is will you get more use out of your sbd powering up or doing something else with it?
It will add a lot more than that. I am at 279 SP and my voting power is around 7-8 cents. Going from 250 to 5,000 will raise it by well over $1.
He is not at 250 now, he is at 4,800 and some. He says in the post it will take 125 sbd to buy enough steem to get to 5,000.
Bitcoin is very likely to take one more big dip in the near future before it can level out. You will want to wait until that happens before investing. And if at all possible try to time when you buy your steem when BTC is around 6k in value.
Otherwise you risk bleeding out money for a bit until things level out.
SBD is not intended to go up in value, the fact that it is going up in value is a bit of a fluke. Be very careful about expecting SBD to go back up. While it probably will short term it is expected that it will be tethered to 1 USD worth of steem down the road.
I would say go for it now while sbd still has some lead over steem. At least you'll be getting more bang for your sbd right now. Not to long ago, sbd fell under steem. I doubt it'll go there again but I could be wrong. If sbd does right, we still don't know how much further behind steem will be. If you think the spread will be wider in the future, then I'd say hold. Only thing is that a larger spread in the future is not guaranteed but the spread now is. Whatever you choose, I wish you the best in you endeavors. Take care!
Whatever you do decide to do, I hope it will be a profitable move for you.
Good luck!
Say goodbye to the little bots... Invest in Steem Power, you'll feel better in the morning that you did.
I am holding out for SBD to go up. There is still a limited supply of SBD and the community is growing. The reason the price of Steem temporarily went higher than SBD was that Steem was listed on Binance and SBD wasn’t. This opened Steem up to the overseas investors and improved Steem price. The problem is that SBD wasn’t listed along with Steem. If Steemit community could influence Binance to list SBD, then I believe SBD price can return to a higher value.
David, with your influence, you should be able to get Steemit community to support.
https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@socky/75rgw8-campaign-to-get-sbd-listed-on-binance
By the way you may have noticed that the SBD has been inching higher than Steem. I believe that SBD should be worth 40% more than Steem at the moment which is why it is climbing in relation to Steem. When listed on Binance, the price of SBD can jump 80%-90% in the first hour and settle out around 25% to 60%. Compared to a current price of SBD of $4.70, the post listing price should settle around $5.88 to $7.52.
If you are interested in converting SBD to Steem, then getting SBD listed on Binance will get you the highest amount of Steem because the listing will produce the greatest spread in the price.
Do it now! He who hesitates masturbates.
If you believe in the Steem platform and community, power up!
If you're dedicated to the platform, then power up my friend. The more power you have the more you can earn. Definitely power up.
The idea of SBD was to have somewhere stable to put your crypto dollars in case you thought steem was going to go down. This was due to the limited pipelines to get from fiat to crypto and back again and lack of options like tether. Now that all exchanges either have tether or fiat, SBD serves no purpose. It's a now a purely speculative vehicle based on pure price speculation. It also has a massively inflationary supply model only supported by the greater fool model. I'm no good at playing the greater fool game(and I'm not a big fan of it), so I just dump it immediately.
I would say that SBDs could be far superior to tether because SBDs are decentralized while tether is controlled by a centralized company that we hope are not cheating us all. Of course, for it to be as valuable as tether, there needs to be a better mechanism for keeping it from going higher than $1 (there is already a mechanism for keeping from going below $1.)
don't do it david just send me all ur money
