I assume it comes down to what is said about entrepreneurship: don't do it for the money.
Money is not the best motivation to build up something of some quality.
On steemit, I see it as learning from others, on topics of your interest. If you have found a selection of people to follow, people you find interesting, it's more natural to have good content comments, to actually add something to the discussion...
So an important question is 'Why are you on steemit?'

I agree with you completely, my story as to how I got here is long and in-depth but honestly it is just my new passion and who knows where it will go!
I’ve spent too many years just consuming content and tossing upvotes at people on Reddit Facebook and YouTube at least here my opinion is responded to with something other then spam and paid for which gives me the interest in posting it in the first place rather than just an Upvote.
Anyone want a good example of how comments bring you results check out @coruscate and her recent contest..... absolutely insane results for the contestants getting visibility.
