The city of Zug in Switzerland announced today that as of September 2017 they will give all citizens the ability to have their identity officially verified with the uPort dapp. The first use of the identity will be in the city's own e-election in the spring of 2018.

Personally I think this is huge. There's been plenty of talk that "identity" is the first really tangible use case for blockchain technology, apart from digital currency. But this adoption came earlier than I suspected if I should be honest.
What's also interesting is that this is a major win in the completion between uPort and Civic.
Welcome to technocracy they going to Mark every human being on the planet with identify number for better management😩
I think of it the opposite way. Finally there's an option to really own your identity. With uPort you truly own the data and can decide exactly what data and with who you share it. It's beautiful :)
I am going to look into uPort and see whether I can find out what this is all about. Creating digital identities the right way is an enormous step forward in doing 'regular' business digitally.
