I totally agree. The really worrying part is that trending news and curated news is being censored by these companies to create the illusion of a certain dialog being the mainstream.
The news that you are saying s true, facebook deleted my account because of what I will say (a buddy that I met on steemit was complaigning how facebook blocked him from moderating a group that he started) And I sat through watching (former?) youtube news channels being dismantled by youtube. Our response needs to be to advertise steemit on facebook, youtube and/or other media outlets. Part of the funny news is that social media is "killing" there creative bases and they are driving people to steemit. The time is coming when many people will get sick of what facebook and youtube are doing and we need to inform those people about steemit!

I was tired of facebooks censorship and I heard someone else talk about steemit (but I still have a facebook account because I don't like the idea of them trying to outsmart me) Who could run a marketing campaign like you are talking about and what would be needed?
I really don't know. It would most likely take some cash to get the word out. I frequently see people raising money on here for get the word out campaigns but that is all overseas. I haven't seen any American groups doing it.

The community needs a social media marketer that will get the news about steemit out (I read about one guy that donated his account earnings to rent a billboard for a month and he placed it in a high traffic area) but social media enthusiasts could do marketing for free! I totally agree. I wish an organized campaign was put together to put the word out on these platforms.

I would do a search on this site for promotion or other key words. If I find something I will let you know.
