RE: How Steemit could go from being a Social Network, to a Marketplace or even end up opening Pandora's Box

I've heard several people propose things like trying to make a craigslist like place on top of steemd, slack, etc. It has a lot of potential and IF it can scale fast enough and handle the load it has the potential to dramatically change the paradigm and replace many of the top sites. Why would people stay with those sites if they can get paid to do what they are doing for free there?
