I've found a use. My first case I had a troll (they are very rare here) following me from post to post and wherever I happened to comment and adding nasty replies. They are rare, but if it is clear they offer nothing but purposefully attacking you then the mute can be handy. Yet I never really considered someone continuing to follow someone they have muted. That indeed is pointless.

TIL @ 2am ... I didn't realize till now, when you pointed it out, that you can mute someone who is following you. Your scenario makes total sense and will keep it in mind. Thanks!
