Fellow Steemians,
as I wanted to upload a profilepicture I noticed that I only got a white circle instead of my picture when I copied the link from Imgur. A quick google search showed that many had this problem, but no one had the solution for my particular case. After some trying and analysis of the links I found thew solution myself and wanted to share it with you! Depending on the picture hosting site you are using, this might fix your problem:
In Imgur, you can get different share-links depending on the purpose of sharing. To get these, simply click on the arrow next to the link that is directly displayed on the picture and then "Get share links":
The following window will pop up:
Notice how the "Share" link and the others are different? Correct, there is an additional "i." in the link! If you use e.g. the marked link for forums you just have to delete the [img] before and after the link, and it will work (the [img], when copied into a forum, tells the forum that now a image will be included; most forum editors add this automatically).
But there is even a more direct way! When you select your gallery after logging into your account, the required link will be displayed directly:
If you use this link, the images should be displayed correctly, either as profilepic or in your posts. I hope this helps!
