What if, instead of down-voting individual posts, there were a system in place where each user could cast one strike per month against another user on the platform. At the end of the month, the user with the most strikes forfeits all Steem and/or gets blocked from posting.
An ongoing tally would show users with the most strikes. Offenders would be put on notice that if they don't shape up, they stand to lose everything.
Such a self-policing system would put an end to abuses quite quickly IMO.
Wow, this could be so easily abused. All the community has to do is strike the largest whale each month and make them forfeit Steem.
With all due respect, this is like the worst idea ever for attracting investors, the only thing that gives Steem value.
Imagine selling people on a speculative crypto investment that will randomly steal all your investment if you operate under optimal game-theory for yourself.
You could sell a new fund run by Bernie Madoff about as easily as that.
I appreciate the brainstorming effort but this would scare of investors like CRAZY.
Watch the Black Mirror episode "Hated in the Nation" S03E06 as a long form allegory of why your idea, which is meant well, could easily be abused. (Plus it is a really great show!)
