Should steemit apply a private message (pm) option ?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Hello steemers !

I don't know if this is possible but i think steemit should have a private message option between users.

My suggestion is that to apply some filters to this option for example we can have private messages :

-only from followers
-from specific members (choose them by username for example)
-from everyone
-from noone

We can have also a "deny" or "allow" option if someone wants to sent a pm .

With this option me can send an email address, skype etc for example to a user and not show it in public.

What to do you think ?

Its a nice idea. If someone is following you, then you should be able to send and receive and send messages to them. I hope this will happen someday. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for support. This came up in my mind because i wanted to do it :)

I thought I did read that this option is already on the blockchain, so that it can be implemented when they want it! So I think this will come soon!

I didn't know that thanks skririm !

I think it could be useful.

Maybe they could do this by making sidechains for private messages... but that's just ludicrous :P

I mean pm's in the steemit.com site not somewhere else. (if that's what you mean sidechains) .

Yes, I know, but as you can see Steemit doesn't use a database, it uses the blockchain. So if they were to implement space for your PMs and all other users PMs in the blockchain that would be much space that people who run nodes won't need.

Therefore sidechains is a good option, but is still a pretty bad option all in all

You mean for pm's steemit needs another blockhain ?
