Main rule: don't beg about upvote or follow, most people don't like it.
As for me, I follow users only after visiting their pages and seeing their content. If I like content I follow them even if those people don't follow me. I will not follow per follow if I don't see nothing interesting on your blog.

Thats cool, if I where in you position I would do the same. Imagine you are very new to steemit/ don't have followers. Building up some followers ain't easy, eaven if you have "something to say"

I am new to steam and I think you are absolutely correct and on point! It seems really weird and unattractive if somebody asks you to follow them or upvote. It's more of a turn off I think.

Thank you! This was how I assumed most people would respond, but I really was not sure. I do not think anyone is obligated to follow per follow. Not everyone is a producer. Some people are here for the content/commentary.

Writing quality comments is also a good way to find new followers or upvotes. Sometimes one comment can be worth more than the whole post:-)
