Steemit should put up some sort of real life verification system. Uploading ID's, utility bills, ... whatever. It's been done on many other sites like exchanges and similar.
Without passing personal verification you can't withdraw or transfer anything. Simple as that.
Maybe we can go even a step further and say that without personal verification you can't earn anything.
You cannot impose an I'd verification on this free speech platform. People have the right to blog and stay anonymous so not allowing them to withdraw is like changing the whole system. This platform is not only about verification it's about blogging and content too. Why an anonymous blogger that writes stories would be obligated to I'd himself just to withdraw? See what I mean? But what can be done is for these users who wants more credibility to verify themselves with maybe a video of introduction instead of photos. I guess sending ids would be quite troublesome legally speaking too.
I see your point and perspective about anonymous blogging. But how can we solve this dilemma / equation:
ID's shouldn't be a problem if you put them in the policy and add a good explanation why are they needed. I would leave this part to lawyers :)
But again - this solution would solve the problem of fake users. And at the same time kill anonymity. So it is not a right approach. OK, forget it :)
I believe Id verification is like the extremism of choices here. The real solution would be to make it hard for accounts without reputation yo earn like new accounts that are created only to post introductions. maybe a notice for now besides post of new members to let the community know it is their first post which will encourage people to carefully analyse the blogging.
i totally disagree with this sort of implantation at this moment.
yes you could do such implementation at different levels, i.e if you have earned 20.000$ in a month, you have to provide a KYC document.
but at this point its overkill, the platform has to grow faster.
I never wrote that it was mandatory to do Id verification I think the contrary! It has to be voluntarily done only! But the solution #2 night discourage multiple accounts that try to scam.
