So I'm looking deeper into this steemit thing today. I had previously thought it was just a social media platform based upon blockkchain technology which would promote freedom of speech/expression without censorship... which is something I've had to battle given the nature of the adult content I produce.
But now (and I feel kind of like a moron for this) I discovered that steem is a cryptocurrency tied to the social network where content creators, bloggers, posters and basically everyone engaged in the whole social media ecosystem can earn steem cryptocurrency! And while that's probably not news for people already here, I know many models, producers who spend a great deal of time on other social media platforms promoting themselves and in the process creating a good deal of content that others want to consume. Those other social media platforms benefit from the work and time that their users pour into their platforms and as a result profit from those creative talents. By contrast, a model here on steemit can reap a portion of those profits for herself.... that's huge!
Furthermore, it does appear to me that steemit is not a well rounded platform in terms of content... yet. It's heavy on the tech/economic topics; it appears to be wide open to those who wish to blaze into other areas and topics.
Anyhow, I'm going to start telling models and producers that I know about steemit, and try to figure all of this out better so I can not only understand it better for myself, but explain it to others.
If you need a tech ambassador or adviser to explain the ins and outs of Steemit to you or your affiliates, there are plenty of members of the community that would happily volunteer their know-how for free, up votes, steem, or even a discount for your products and services.
For starters I think just being pointed to a well made video that explains steemit would be ideal. I've been watching a few TDV videos and a few others, but nothing I have seen thus far breaks it down into a good educational type video format.
I have a feeling this is the exact opposite of what you need, but this one is my favorite.
This is the one you need though.
Thank you, those were both good! They explained the coin creation process very well... I'm familiar with Bitcoin and the mining to bring BTC into reality, but was not sure how it was done with steem. Basically the act of posting, commenting and participating results in steem coin creation. And while that might seem ridiculous at first, just consider the Fed and the arbitrary methods used in legacy banking to create "money" out of thin air. I think I can get behind an alt coin that creates money as a result of social energy! Very Cool!
Absolutely. @trevonjb had one of the clearest explanations for it in one of his videos. He likened hash rate and the computing power used by miners to mine coins like BTC and ETH to brain power on Steemit. The physical definition of power is measured by the frequency with which a certain amount of mass can be moved. I equate mass in this scenario to be the quality of your content and content curation and thus value the Steemit community places on it. Obviously the frequency is how often you curate, comment, or post. As I understand mining, in many ways, it's like a lottery with results that average out over time, but it doesn't change the core benefit of actively contributing to the process. When a whale upvotes a minow for a post you feel is no better than yours, it doesn't change the overall benefit you get in return for actively contributing value to the community over time. If the same ever happens to you, and your post outranks something you perceive as exceptional, it will still just be a product of the process.
I am fairly new here and I do agree it is not well - rounded yet. However everything has to build its way up , and I feel the more we learn and understand about it , we can really get Steemit out there , telling everyone we know . and That will help get Steemit on top . Nothing happens over night , but Lets do this Together . Help build Steemit from the ground up ::)) Love your post .Thank you for sharing @fetlovin
I want this redhead as a teacher
Correct! Not well-rounded yet... but it will be.
Blaze away!
