Hey Dan, thanks for the interview with @heimindanger. I agree, DTube is a game changer. However, you shuld look into the proof-of-stake of Steem. Currently it has the easiest way to demoneytize content. Imagine the government buying just one or two million Steem Power (which would increase the price a bit but not much). They could flag your posts just like this and they would be down to zero. i think this is still a huge problem with Steem. Sure, this is no true censorship because your content would still be on the blockchain. But you would be back to square, just like with YouTube.
I am not saying this will happen but since it CAN happen we should really make sure sure that there will be a change of the blockchain code in the future making this impossible.
I totally agree with you on this. Since the government has alot of money they can chose to join the community and take control by buying as much steem power as possible and there are no measures taken on Steemit to stop one person from monopolising the whole system.
The good thing is that this is open source and we have talented people who can counter any attempt like this by changing the code and make the flagging system not based on proof-of-stake or let it work differently. So even though we should be aware of this issue, it will not bring down the Steem blockchain. It would only be temporary.
am guessing it would be something like a tiny bug in the system haha
I think if the content is liked amd upvoted by many members of community and if only one member is powring u down then it could be tracked down and may be black listed.
Wouldn't it be more likely corporations like Google's Aplhabet or Facebook would buy a lot of steem with an anon account and do what you're saying.
As we know, Operation Mockingbrid was conducted by the CIA in the 50s to infiltrate and control media. So, it stands to reason there are already plans for these trolls to influence this network.
But, I am going to hold out hope that they are much too far behind the times and too concerned with controlling legacy media for them to make a difference here.
Granted, I did state in post about not being able to get into my Dtube account with my Steemit pass code that perhaps I was experiencing a cyber attack against Dtube.
