Some of the many things that can cause a good post to go unnoticed

You have just got finished writing a great post. You pat yourself on the back right before hitting the post button. You have a smirk on your face as you think of how good an author you are.

2 hours later you come back to see 0 likes and the only comment you have is from some bot named wang.
"^%%# asdfghjkl" you yell, "What did I do wrong?"

Don't beat your self up, it could happen to anyone. Well, anyone that is not a whale with a following of bot-whales.
Here are a list of things that could have went wrong. This list is not exclusive.

  • You picked a bad time of day.
  • Your great post got dwarfed by one or many greater posts around it.
  • There are already a large number of recent popular posts on same subject(introductions for example).
  • Your post is not great as you think it is.
  • People suspect you are a bot, or a fake.
  • You did not use any images.
  • Everyone got eaten by squirrels.

Regardless of whether your post does well or not, keep trying to create better content. Try to make each post better than the last. It will always be there, forever, for anyone to come across. Create a portfolio of wonderful content, and who knows, maybe some day it will have way more value than you could ever have imagined.

Disclaimer: Sometimes the author of this post thinks he knows what he is talking about when he really has no idea.

Sort:

Squirrels! It's a conspiracy!

My dogs believe squirrels are the root of all evil.

Flying squirrel assassins with crossbows. They're in the trees!

Everyone got eaten by squirrels.

this is the most likely event though. be safe

Whats generally the best time of day to post?

I have not figured that part out yet. I am just pretty sure that there are some times that are better than others. I will let you know if I figure it out.

As the whole world gets onto the platform, i suspect there is going to be a "best time" to post. Its going to be a 24/7 circus in my estimation. But you could find best times to post for a particular audience in a part of the world.

The Wang line was great! He posts everywhere!
