I know Steemit since a few days and it has already changed my life.
It was difficult to start having a decent following, and probably it has been determining (as well as a little luck) to be expert of the role of currencies and money in the organization of our society.
But not everyone has something in which they excel, and Steemit can't become a social network for "just a few people", nor a currency for a few brave pioneers.
For Steemit to succeed, I believe we should find a way to reward everyone who commits a substantial amount of quality time in a more stable and lasting way.
I am thinking at a couple ways to do so, anyone as an idea to suggest ?
I'm not a big fan of just giving people large amounts of Steem for just being members. Beneficiaries need to either have some skin in the game(invested outside money), put in significant amount of work, or have been active participants in the platform for an extended period of time. In a way, the compounding effect of owning Steem Power sort of accomplishes this goal. However, one change we might consider is allowing posts from long time members get larger Steem/Steem Dollar rewards for ALL upvotes regardless of the voter's Steem Power. The longer you are a member, the larger the reward for any upvotes on your posts or comments.
I'm not a fan either of giving away steem dollars "easily". But the ones who invest quality time, maybe could be rewarded in a more structured way, that could allow them to make a living out of Steem.
This could have a series of positive effects, for example would be a big advertise for the community.
It's my understanding that steemit already does this. The most active users are rewarded the most for their participation and so their steem power grows the fastest too. This to me is already a great enough incentive to be consistently interactive with the website
You come to the right place :) Enjoy
And How could we measure this commitment,,,I think thats quite difficult
Steem power getting liquidated could be a form of "basic income".
